ELAINE AND ABRAM CHARKOW KINDERGARTEN DEDICATED IN ARAD
Vancouver communal leaders are present at official ceremony
Amidst the desert sands of the Negev, in Israel, in the new pioneering city of Arad, a brand new kindergarten now serves the desert area. The kindergarten was built by the Keren-Hoyesod through the generosity of Mr. and Mrs. Abram Charkow of Vancouver. Mr. Charkow is vice-chairman of the 1969 United Jewish Appeal campaign.
On Feb. 27, the official dedication ceremony took place with Mr. and Mrs. Charkow In attendance in Arad.
Highlights from the memorable dedication appear in accompanying photos, which include the moment when Abe Charkow offixed a Mezzuzoh on the door post of the 'Elaine and Abram Charkow Kindergarten' in Arad.
Mr. and Mrs. Charkow are also seen in the pictures removing the cover of the dedication plaque, and are photographed as they meet one of the children from the kindergarten who has just presented Mrs. Charkow with a bouquet of Israeli flowers.
