New target for pro-Arab publication was the Royal Consort, Prince Philip, with whom many
in our i>wn community will be dining on Oct. 28 at Canadian Council of. Christians and Jews dinner here. The magazine, "Free Palestine" charged the Prince with being "pro-Jewish" because he will address (for the fifth straight year) a joint charity dinner of which Jewish National Fund is a co-sponsor. We've got problems here. Last week we wrote about how the Habonim Succa at the Centre was vandalized. This week we heard that the Succa built at UBC campus by Hillel students, under 'building committee' chairman. Ken Samet, was found stripped of all its decorations. A hurried trip to town for fruit, new year cards, etc. and a quick re-decorating made it beautiful again for Hillel Succa party Sept. 30, well attended by over 40 youth who had a ball. Mr. Barlsh's gift was made under auspices of Ben Zvi chapter of Hadassah, whose president, Mrs. A. Levison, is seen above making the presentation to Mr. Barish. The festive ceremony took place at 4663 West 13th Ave. where Mr. Barish lives together with his brother, Ben Parish and his sister, Mrs. Fanny SegalL The Barish brothers are well known pioneers of Saskatchewan. Mrs, Levison made both brothers, honorary life members of Ben Zvi chapter of Hadassah. Following the presentation, Eli Barish announced that he is giving an additional $500 for Israeli projects.

A most successful Yom Kippur dance was held Saturday evening, Sept. 27 at Red Lion Inn. Convener was Mrs. Martin Scherzer and M.C. was Mort Levitt. The dance was a Sisterhood project.

Members of the community were invited to see the Succa built by the Youth at the home of Congregation president, Barney Simmons. A miniature scroll and other symbols of Judaism
reposed on the table while the Succa was hung with grapes, apples, cranberries, leaves, etc. Refreshments were served by hostess Helen Simmons. On Sept. 27 when the Succa was built, parents were invited to bring pre-school age childreh to see it, and 21 small children arrived for a story about Succot and suitable refreshments.

Regular Friday night services at Congregation Emanuel are being conducted by Shalom Kalfon, assisted by Max Menkes. In addition, a special Simchat Torah service was held Tuesday, Oct. 14, with election of officers to be held.
National COimcil of Jewish Women will hold their meeting on Thursday, Oct. 16. Free food stall will be discussed further.
Hadassah Bazaar will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 22, from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in a new location. Fellowship hall. Conveners are Tina Klenman and Helen Caine.

Their birthdays are coincidentally one day apart, they're both widows and they have three grandchildren in common via their son and daughter, Solly and Doreen Globman. Mrs, Becky Conway <who has seven grandchildren in all) and Alirs. Luba Globman (who has six) are our two mothers-in-law of distinction.
