How The Money Will Be Spent In
STREETS ($10,310,000)—To continue the iow-cost program to 0ave ar\cil curit) local streets in residential, commercial iahd industrial districts: to improve lanes in residential ai^as! to biiild more sidewalks and biis shelters.
STREET LIGHTING ($1,030,000)— To make our streets safer.
PARKS ($7,650,000) — Tp develop and improve existing parks in all sections Of the City ^nd to acquire additional park sites; V .
COMMUNITY SERVICE CENTRE FACIUTIES ($4,960,000) - To build the multi-purpose Britannia Community Services Centre and a badly-needed Community Centre in Strathcoha; to carry out improvements to existing Community Centres; to build twp indoor swimming pools adjacent to high schools. The School Board and Park Board wil^ participate.
L!SRAP.!ES ($S1C,0GC) — To permit establishment of three branch libraries in rental premises, in Marpole, West Point Grey and in the vicinity of 12th and Granville, and a new branch
library building in Fraserview.
REPLACEMENT FOR CRYSTAL POOL ($2,000,000) - To build a centrally-located pool for use by all City residents. Built to Olyrhpic standards, it will replace Crystal Pool which Is obsolete and uneconomic to repair.
HEALTH AND SOCIAL SERVICES ($960,000) - For the addition and improvements to the Victoria Drive Health and Welfare building; to establish a Health and Welfare office in Oak-ridge; tb provide an addition to the Knight Street Health and Welfare building and to carry out alterations to the Social Service building at 8th and Granville.
MAGISTRATES COURTS ($1,240,000)—To provide the balance of funds necessary to build the new Magistrates (^urts Building on the block bounded by Main, Cordova, Gore and Powell.
HOUSING ($1,000,000) — A 'revolving' fund to purchase sites for low-rental senior citizens housing and public housing. As the sites are develpped the City will be reimbursed and the money used to buy new sites. The total amount of the 5-year plan is $29,660,000.
POLLING BOOTHS WILL BE OPEN 8 A.M. TO 8 P.M. IN VARIOUS PARTS OF THE CITY. OWNER-ELECTORS WILL BE ADVISED AS TO THEIR PARTICULAR POLLING PLACE.
