The Centre will be the scene, Sunday, Oct. 1 for "Cabaret Night" —an evening iol food, talk, song and dance planned to show this community's hospitality to its newcomers.

An-mformal atmosphere, with no organizational identification or responsibility, lends itself to newcomers and oldtimers meeting and socializing, it was pointed
out. The first such evening held last June, saw oyer 300 people attend, emphasizing to the committee the need for this type of event.
It was decided to hold several "Cabarets" during the year and Mrs. Lillian Kuristler, long involved in welcoming newcomers to Vancouver through the ; Immigrant Services Society and ' in her home, agreed to be pro-,gram chairniaii. The next Red Cross blood donor clinic will be held this Monday, Sept. 25, 6 - 9 p.m., at Red Cross House, 32nd and Oak St. B'nai B'rith Women's Centennial chapter will staff this event on behalf of the Jewish commtuiity. Lion's Gate lodge B'nai B'rith will meet next on Oct. 2, 8:30 p.ni., at the Centre.
The lodge's Sept. 11 meeting featured a memorial dedication service conducted by Rabbi W. Solomon honouring lodge members deceased during the past year. Also cited were the 11. slain Israeli Olympic athletes.

Interest in helping with planning and serving during the evening has been high. Some recent newcomers have volunteered their assistance and the Yduth Action Service will contact young people individually to invite them to attend.

Home-maile koshor pickle !iale aids NCSY youth
The NCSY fund-raising project of home-made kosher pickle sale commenced on Sept. 19 and will run through Nov. 5. These pickles made * by NCSY members, under fund-raising chairman Jonathan Kaplan^ will be sold at low prices.
The sale and pick-up hours are Mondays through Fridays at 10 -12 noon and 4 - 6 p.m. from the synagogue office, and~ on Sundays from 10 - 1 p.m. from the NCSY office. Telephone orders will be .accepted by calling 736-6707. Early orders are being urged.
All proceeds will be allocated to the NCSY Youth Activities Fund. The' home-made kosher pickles are under rabbinical supervision of Rabbi Marvin Hier.

The next general jneeting of the B'nai B'rith Hillel Foundation advisory board will be held this "Monday, Sept. 25, 8:15 p.m. in room 103 of the Centre. All executive members, university students and interested parties are being cordially welcomed.
