JCC to stage 'Schnorrers'
So delighted were Lou Zimmerman, executive-director of the Centre, and Clive Kaplan, chairman of the Centre's drama committee-, with the production "King of the Schnorrers" that they persuaded the cast to present it at the Centre on Sunday June 10 and Monday June 11.
"Positively delightful", stated Mr. Zimmerman in expressing surprise that "an amateur production could achieve such a high professional level."
"King of the Schnorrers", directed by Alex Kleiner, was produced by the Peretz school but drew talent from all segments of the community, with the lead taken by Arnold Selwyn of the Jewish Community Choir.
The writers have turned Israel Zangwill's famous novel into a musical-comedy which one critic described as "whimsical and witty, sentimental and satyrical, romantic and robust, compassionate and critical, combining social values with worthy enter-. tainment."
The show will go on at 8:30 p.m. on June 10 and 11 with tickets available at the door.
