Women Leaders Hear Ambassador Barmore
Officials of the 1973 Women's Israel Bond Campaign were delighted by the record attendance at their Canvasser's "Kaffee Klatch" held last Thursday, August 23 at the home of Women's Division Associate Chairman Mrs. Charles Diamond.
The culmination of the morning's activities was an outstanding appeal to the canvassers made on Israel's behalf by His Excellency Jacob Barmore, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary in the permanent Mission of Israel to the United Nations.
Ambassador Barmore reaffirmed and emphasised strongly Israel's continuing and escalating need for our support through Israel bonds, as the world attempts to ignore her existence. "Through Bonds we are able to support her industrial development and sustain her economy in a very unique way — not by a gift or donation but by a sound financial and moral investment in the Land of our Fathers," the distinguished visitor declared.
He brought to mind again the tremendous importance of the resettlement of emigres: "Today
AMBASSADOR JACOB BARMORE hears prediction from Israel Bond Associate Chaairmen of on "outstanding sales campaign" on behalf of State of Israel Oonds by the two ladies who are spearheading this year's Women's Bond Drive in Vancouver. is the day of the test! We cannot ask those in their dungeons throughout the world to wait until next year because we can't afford for them to come to Israel this year."
Chairmen Mrs. Charles Diamond and Mrs. Shell Hershberg stated, that it was a very great privilege for the women of our community to have the opportunity to hear such a distinguished guest as Ambassador Barmore and forecast an outstanding sales campaign for 1973 motivated by the enthusiasm of the canvassers who attended the Kaffee Klatch.
Women of the community are being invited to attend the Israel Bond Luncheon Thursday, September 6 at 12 noon at the Hotel Vancouver when Mrs. Edward G. Robinson will be the guest speaker. Maximum attendance is expected. Early reservations are suggested by calling the Bond Office 266-7210 or 263-5912.
