B.B.W. Centennial gals are
hoping that there will be a long lineup of blood donors from the Jewish community when they again staff a vital Red Cross Blood Donor Clinic this Monday, Sept.
17, 7 to 9 p.m.

How can it be that there is absolutely no one in the entire community who has a used bed, mattress, table, chest of drawers, blanket, linens or toys for immigrant Jewish families to set up a new life here? There was no response whatsoever to the last plea in this corner by the Jewish Family Service Agency which desperately needs furniture and bedding to help newcomers. Won't someone please find something useful tucked away and then call Abe Bering, 266-2396?

Recent CBC morning broadcast by Ben Metcalfe began with the words, "Not all the news is in the dailies. . ." and went on to describe how he is a regular Bulletin reader, enjoys it and gets
a lot out of it even as a non-Jew.

Well, Mr. and Mrs. Nathan Ross are also among those who faithfully read The Bulletin from cover to cover. Originally Torontonians, they were trying to find a restaurant here that served maicholem like they used to enjoy back P2ast. . . Then they read in JWB that Lindy's on Broadway was remodelled and decided to give it a try. . .
* * *
One taste of the first course and Nathan looked up at owner Leo Krenkiel, exclaiming: "Whoever cooked this food can only come from one place in the world
— Ostroveitz!" Leo nearly dropped the platter he was carrying
— "How did you know where I come from?" was his astonished reply.

It seems that Nathan Ross and Leo Krenkjel both originally came from the same Polish city where certain typical Jewish cooking had an unparalleled and distinctive flavor. . .
