A DAVtD Y. H. lUI DANCE SPECTACULAR EVENT
INBAL DAIMCE
The INBAL DANCE THEATRE, a company of thirty dancers and musicians, has excited audiences the world over with its thrilling and varied blend of sights and sounds. Explosive exuberance and touching poignancy, imaginative choreography and haunting melodies, ancient ritual and modern theatre—all are unified in performances unique, on the stage today.
Sara Levi-Tanai, the company's artistic director and choreographer, founded the Inbal Dance Theatre In 1949. "Inbal" means "tongue of the bell," and the name was aptly chosen, for the company's art rings out with
the humanity of ancient folklore, the nobility of historical tradition, the beauty of desert landscape, the universality of Biblical story, the excitement of modern Israel. Drawing on each of her dancers' individual background and talent, Sara Levi-Tanai has fashioned a total theatre which "ranks with the world's finest dance companies"; a company which has succeeded in entertaining millions while persuing its goal to keep the glorious tradition of a proud nation alive while searching for new ways to express the spirit of contemporary Israel.
