A photostat distributed to Jewish residents of Vancouver South riding this week was deplored by Social Credit leader BUI Bennett.
The leaflet, containing a reproduction of a page from Hansard, was hand-delivered to a number of Jewish homes in envelopes individually addressed and bearing the return address: "New Democratic Party, Vancouver South."
The page from Hansard (dated May 8, 1974.) contains remarks made by Harvey Schroeder, Socred MLA from Chilliwack, in which Schroeder had accused Resources Minister Bob Williams of pretending to be part of the international business world.
Hand-lettered across the top of the photostat in block letters is the following caption: "These are statements by Harvey Schroeder, Social Credit M.L.A. concendng the Jewish conununity.
These ...ents were made in the legislature and have not been retracted by Party Leader BiU Bennett."
Mr. Bennett, in a telephone interview with The Bulletin, decried the false headline and declared that not only had he made

a statement on the matter in the legislature, but recalled that he had given a special interview about it to The Jewish Western Bulletin (JWB May 17, 1974 and also referred to in an Editor's Note following a Letter to the Editor, JWB Dec. 4, 1975). "1 would like to make it abso-
lutely clear that what I said before still goes, I as leader, and the party do not condone any form of discrimination based on race or religion," Mr. Bennett said.
"Our party has clearly defined goals and those goals are established in convention. We have standards which do not allow for any disciimination because of religious or ethnic difference," he stated.
Mr. Bennett said that he would publicly repudiate anyone who would purport to speak for the Social Credit party and who would hold such unacceptable attitudes.
"I want to make it clear that there is no room in our party for this, especially in our Province where we recognize how much we owe and how great a contribution has been made to our collective greatness by the many . people of various ethnic backgrounds," Mr. Bennett pointed out. WASHINGTON-A panel of some 20 eminent American scholars and foreign policy ejqierts - including Harvard Prof. NadavSaf-ran and former U.S. Ambassador to the UN Charles Yost - will publish the results of its siy month study soon on the Arab-Israeli conflict, including a proposal to set up an independent Palestinian state on the West Bank.
The proposals reportedly also calls for an Israeli withdrawal to the 1967 borders except for those adjustments acceptable to both. Israel audits Arab nei^bors. In exchange the Arabs must fully recognize Israel and agree to normalize their relations with it.
Syndicated columnists Rowland Evans and Robert Novak reported in the "Washington Post" that the high-powered group, named by Washington's prestigious Brookings Research Instotution, has come to this conclusion, although the results have not yet been published.
The long-awaited stu^ may have some influence on UiS. foreign policy since the authors are among the most respected American ejqiterts on the Middle East. . Several Jewish scholars are included in the panel, including Sol Linowitz and Rita Hauser. Report-edly they are being pressured to accept this.conclusion.
