Rose Kelbert laid to resi
Rose Kelbert, a reisdent of Vancouver area for 48 years, passed away at Vancouver General hospital on AprU 26. She was 84 years of age.
Born and educated in Capreshti, Rumania, the former Reiza It-zkovitch married there in 1922. She came to Canada and Hoffer, Saskatchewan 51 years ago. She was affiliated in Vancouver with Pioneer Women and the Golden Age club.
Predeceased by her husband, Haim Kelbert, she is survived by a son, Norman; a daughter, Mrs. Lb yd (Mary) Hale^ Piermont, New York; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held April 27 at Schara Tzedeck chapel with Rabbi P.Plotkin and Cantor M.Preis officiating. Interment followed at Schara Tzedeck cemetery. Chevra Kadisha was in charge of arrangements.

JERUSALEM — Yeshayahu Tadmor, a former head of Gadna and director of Israel TV, has been formally appointed director of the Israel Aliyah Centre in New York.

VICTORIA — Max Finegood Menkes of Victoria passed away suddenly in Royal Jubilee hospital on May 3 in his 69th year.
Mr. Menkes was treasurer and religious leader for many years of Temple Emanu-el in Victoria . He was active in the Victoria Mathematics Teacheirs' association, was a former head of the mathematics department of Esquimau Senior Secondary school, and chairman of the Mathematics Scholarship Marking conmiittee.
He is survived by his wife, Minnie, Victoria; two sons. Dr. Edwin Menkes, Vancouver, and Dr. Harold Menkes, Baltimore; a daughter, Shirley Grossman, Spokane; four brothers and three sisters, all of southern California; and seven grandchildren.
A memorial service was held May 5^ at Temple Emanu-el in Victoria. Interment took place in Spokane, Washington on May 6.
The family has requested that persons desiring send donations to the Max Menkes Memorial Fund, c/o Temple Emanu-El, 1461 Blanshard, Victoria.

Camp Hatikvah is a camp that the Vancouver Jewish community should be p*oud of. Its philosophy is simple: 'Having fun and being Jewish are not mutually exclusive.'
It is one of the few environments that exist where a child can enjoy a 'total Jewish experience.' Campers are afforded the opportunity of experiencing their Jewish heritage through active programming concerned with the wealth and beauty of a 'Jewish way-of-life,' Mboth here and in Israel.
We endeavor to provide this atmosphere through expert staff, who each year are carefully chosen to meet our program needs. The head staff must possess years of camping experience and youth work, and at least two years experience in their partciidar field.

MSRIAM NAMES PROGRAM DIRECTOR
The appointment of Mark Skapinker as program director at Camp Miriam was announced last week by the camp's Personnel committee.
A native of Johannesburg, South Afrka, Mr. Skapinker, aged 22, has been a member of Ichud Habonim since he was eight years-old. He spent a year in Israel on the Habonim leadership workshop (Machon) program.
He holds a B.A. in psychology and sociology from University of
the Witwaterspand, Johannesburg. He attended King David Jewish Day school in Johannesburg as a youth.
He is a member of a kibbutz garin and made aliyah to Kibbutz Nir Eliyahu in Israel.
Camp Miriam officials also announced that Yaacov srur, currently serving as Shaliach to Vancouver Habonim Youth, will be at the camp this summer as a member of the senior programming staff. Mr. Srur is also

Bom in Haifa, Mr. Srur, aged 29, is a member of Kibbutz Gonen near Kiryat Shmona. He received his elementary school education at Yavneh Religious school in Haifa and was granted a diploma from the agricultural school at Kfar Galim.
In 1965 he joined the Nahal forces of the Israeli Defense Forces and was stationed at Kibbutiz Gonen in the Huldi Valley near Kiryat Sh-Lona. During, his Nahal service, Mr; Srur was group director and attended the Agricultural school at Ayanot from 1967 to 1969, serving as a special children's leader. In 1970 he returned to Kibbutz Gonen

Mr. Srur has been in Vancouver since September, 1976.
His wife, Miri, will also be at Camp Miriam this summer, and assist in the camp's program. Born in Tel Aviv, Mrs. Srur attended high school at Kibbutz Kinneret. She has an extensive background in working with children and is also regarded as a specialist in pottery, arts-and-crafts, singing and dancing.

The many sports activities are enhanced by the fact that Camp Hatikvah is located on the shores of Lake Kalamalka and therefore an excellent program is provided.
Individualized instruction in swimming, water-skiing, canoeing provide campers with the opportunity of learning or perfecting techniques in these areas. In addition, campers may choose aniongst activities such as arts-and-crafts, archery, tennis, Israeli singing and dancing, jazz dancing, drama, scouting, overnight camp-puts, etc. These interests can be developed and expanded so that by the end of the camping season, the campers will have benefited through this exposure.
