Dr. Jacob JRothschild, director and professor of the Graduate Library school at Hebrew University x)f Jerusalem, will be a visiting professor in the School of Librarianship of the University of British Columbia this summer.
He wUl offer two courses, one of which, **The literature of J|udaica," is open to all interested persons. The course covers sources for Judaic historical, literary and social studies; and special problems in the acquisition, control and use of Judaic materials.
This course will be offered July 25 to Aug. 12, Monday to Friday, 1:35 to 3:45 p.m., in room 839 of the UBC library.
The second course Dr. Rothschild will instruct is "Comparative Librarianship,'' covering practices and theories of librarianship throughout the world. It will be offered July 4 to 22, Monday to Friday, i:35to3:45 p.m.

Both courses carry 11/2 units of credit to those who are already in theSchoors professional program or others with the approval of the School's coniimittee on admissions.'

Dr. Rothschild, born in Frankfort on Main, studied German and English philosophy and history at (he universities of Frankfort and Heklelberg. He took advanced Jewish studies at the Yeshiva in Frankfort.
He received the degree of Dr. Phil, in 1934 at Frankfoi-t university and the certificate of high school teacher from the Baden ministry of education in 1934, both with distinction. He served as a teacher at Jewish high schools at Fulda, Frankfort and Berlin.
Dr. Rothschild emigrated to Palestine in 1938 and was principal of elementary and high schools from 1940 to 1948.
He was deputy director of education in the Jewish Displaced Persons camps in the U.S.-occupied zone of Germany from 1949 tol950.
He w^s educational superintendent for Youth Aliyah from 1950 to. 1957.-
He received the diploma in librarianship in 1958 at Hebrew University aiid became senior Ubrariahdndheadof the catalogue dq[)artmeht in 1958-59. He joined thie Graduate School of Library and Archive Studies in the Hebrew University in 1960 and^ was appointed director in 1969. y
