Richard Ames, chainnan of the. Gamp Hatikvah committee, has amiotinced the appoiotment ;of Talmud Torah principal Tom Widrich as the camp's new director ior the approaching sunmier season.
Mr, Ames stated that Mr. Widrich's appointment, together with the Jewish Community Fund and a)uncil?s recent decision to support the operation of Camp Hatikvah in 1978, have generated a new and dynamic interest in the camp. . , ^;
Mr. Widrich has had considerable experience in Jewish affairs, education and youth movements. He has been principal of a number of schools in South Africa, including a leading remedial institution as well as two weU-known Jewish Day School complexes.
He lias been active in various leadership aspects of the Bnei-Zion Camps (recently- amalgamated with the Habonim movement in South Africa) and spent; time in Israel together with visiting student groups.

A recent meeting of the Pioneer Women-Na'amat Council appointed Mrs. Manya Archeck as Sholoch Monos chairman for the 1978 campaign. This year's drive began earlier this week.
Mrs. Archeck was cited as a community leader who over the past V years took leadei;sbip mppnsibilities in theJsrael^oSfd Campaign, United Jewish Appeal^; Jewish National Fund, Hadasyh, National Council of Jewish Women and Beth Israel synagogue.
Mrs. Archeck noted that the traditional Sholoch Monos season is a highly appropriate time to raise funds for infants, education and rehabilitation work in Israel. "At a time when Israel is occupied with unbelievable burdens, Jews in the Diaspora must respond generously to her humanitarian needs," she said.
