National Council of Jewish Women, Vancouver Section, will use proceeds of their forthcoming Thrift Sale' to further some of CounciPs projects in the community.
The sale will be held at the Centre on Monday, June 18, from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Temporary depot for merchandise is at the home of Jack and Evelyn Huberman, 4049 Cartier .(in the garage).
Persons bringing items are being asked to phone 731-1223 before delivery.
A special date for delivery of good used clothes, jewelry, *bric-a-brac\ linen, etc., will be Sunday, June 17, i to 4 p.m. at the Centre. Convener Frances Huberman, who will be in attendance, has asked that all goods be in clean, saleable condition.
The Volunteer Bureau is now in operation, and has openings for volunteers as aides at Talmud
Torah, for the Jewish Family Service Agency and the Shalom Welcome Wagon to help the 30 new Russian families who are expected shortly.
Additionally, drivers are needed to deliver kosher meals-on-wheels and for other services during the summer in the community.
Persons who have some time available and would like to participate, are being asked to phone 261 -0112 for a personal interview.
MOSLEM RULE in Jerusalem continued until 1099, when the city was captured by the Christian Crusaders. Their brutal massacre of the inhabitants, both Moslems and Jews, resulted in the population dropping as low as 3,000. For a short time only, no Jews were left in Jerusalem — they returned as soon as the first fury of Christian fanaticism wore off.
NCSY cipsing banquet Sunday
A iiight of laughter, good music, fine food and fond memoriies has been planned for NCSY Fourth Annual Awards Banquet, Ner Tamid chapter president Rhonda Estrin told The Bulletin. The event is scheduled Sunday, June 10,6 p.m. at Schara Tzedeck synagogue.
The evening will close the youth group*s season and will recognize outstanding NCSY members and activities.
Live Jewish music and entertainment by Barry Kaplan and Friends will be featured with lots of ruach and folk dancing.
Families, friends and interested persons in the community will be very welcome to join the frailach evening, Miss Estrin pointed out.

Israel hospital seeks nurses
The Israel Aliyah Centre office in Vancouver recently received notice from Shaare Zedek Hospital in Jeriisaleiii, Israel of their need for certified nurses. They are sponsoring a one-year working program for English-speaking nurses, which involved a commitment of one year of work in the hospital.
The participant will receive the following benefits: A return tricket to Israel; a full salary according tip nurses* rates scale in Israel and her experience and expertise; one-month course familiarization with the hospital department; participation in intensive Hebrew course; tours in Jerusalem and other parts of Israel; subsidized rental housing; one-month paid vacation.:
The program is for registered aiid practical nurses. Knowledge of Hebrew is not necessary. Surgical nurses and nurses with knowledge
and experience in cardiac^arrests and emergency situations will be prefSerred.
