POUND DECLINES
JER-USALEM — Israeli Pound dropped to IL 26 to $1.
THE BULLETIN is opening its pages to contributions from our senior citizens which will appear in this column periodically. The first writer is over 90, a resident of the Louis Brier Home who tries to communicate what an older person goes through when relinquishing a former role in life and the community.
The question is: How does one feel to face so many changes at once, when we get old?
The change of age is not the only factor. It is the question of health and the change of living in the surroundings that keep the elderly from being contented and cheerful.
When Icame to this Home, I felt as if I were in a kidnapped plane, rushed to an unknown part of the world that I knew very little about, surrounded by only elderly people who looked tired, lonely and not well or happy.
I landed in a place! could not call
my own home, nor could 1 do the things I once enjoyed doing and that had kept me busy in house and garden.
I realize that no public Home is able to supply all the needs of the elderly, but Vm sure some people try to bring about the best that times can afford.
.With all that, I try to keep calm, and as cheerful as one can be when one is depressed by health factors. Vm very thankful to the nursing staff for their constant help to me, and to the many people who work and help me at the Louis Brier Home.

Also covered are the Jewish Federation and its functions; the Jewish Archives at the University of Washington library; a Shaliach (Isi-aeli emissary) program; and other agencies.
These include a Jewish Family Service; a Jewish Newcomers Service; XYiQ Jewish Transcript, the Federation-sponsored twice-monthly Jewish news publication; the Rabbinical Council of Seattle; Western Washington Rabbinic Group; and national agencies with offices in Seattle.
