GEORGE MATE
Jerusalem in the faculty of sooial work, he served as director of Habonim in Vancouver and is regional coordinator of Habonim in the Pacific Northwest.
Mr. Berson studied leadership skills for one year at the Habonim workshop in Israel and has held various positions at Gamp Miriand,-incjuding director of the leadership training program and prograni director. Prior to attending the Hebrew University, he was a mem- , ber of a select group of youth c^lioseh^ by the Canada World Youth to study in Malaysa. ^
George Mate has been actively in-^ volved in Camp Miriam, first as a!^ camper, then holding various senior staff positions during the past three years. r . In 1975 he attended a leader-" ship training program in Eastern Canada and also studied in Israel at Haifa University and for four months on ulpan at a Kibbutz. He has served as president of Habonim.;
Mr. Mate has studied at Langara College and will be entering the, faculty of education at Simon Fraser University this fall.
Rami Raz, who will serve the; camp in the capacity of Shaliach, will be responsible for coordinating the educational program. He will be attending the camp iVith his wife, Idit, and three children. She will specialize in the area of arts-and-crafts arid Israeli dancing.
Mr. Raz has had extensive experience working with youth and is a qualified teacher, having taught elementary school at Kibbutz Gesher Haziv^ Israel. Prior to coming to ' Vancouver in 1979 as a representative of the Jewish Agency, he held senior positions in the kibbutz and served as coordinator of volunteer youth with the Israeli scout youth /movement.
He served as a lieutenant in the Israel Defence Forces and fought in the Six Day War on the Golan Heights.

Golden Age club director Barbara Minuk told The Bulletin this week that the responsibility of taking Goldeners into Oregon and Washington as scheduled at this time was too great and there was no choice but to cancel the trip that ;had been planned.
She stated that an equally exciting trip has been planned to leave on . Monday, July 7 for four days. The group will depart Vancouver for Kelowna via "the Hojpe-Princeton highway. Travelling through the Okanagan Valley to Penticton, participants will stay foi* two nights at the Penticton Inn which is just two blocks from the lake.
