Coldeii Age Day welcomes
The Golden Age Club's annual fimd-raising event. Golden Agei Day open to the entire conununity, takes place this Monday, May 17, 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p<m. at the Centre.
A variety of foods will be available at a buffet lunch, including bagels, chieese and pastries for thosedesiring just a light snack. The event will also feature Golden Age hand-made crafts, a *wlute elephant* table, and a pastiy table.
Fundsivill go towards supporting the Goldeners* various activities, which include meetings* lunches, singiiig and dance groups, exercise programs, swimming and bowling.

Bertha Solman, chairman of the Pioneer Women Na'amat^s 1982 **Adopt-a-Child** campaign, has announced th^ the drive to personally involve: the community in scores of "spiritual adoptions** of underprivileged Israeli children is well underway and will culminate in a P.W. luncheon t>n Wednesday, June 9 at Schara Tzedeck.
^After so many years of helping Israel's deprived children," said Mrs. Solman, "Pioneer Women's message is certainly clear — the community has a responsibility to ensure the well-being pf children of poorer families, especially at a time of terrible inflation and other^conomic problems.?*
She recounted several case histories pfcfiildren helped at P.W. homes in Israiel, including that of a four-year-old girl named Merav who had directly benefitted from an "Adopt-a-Child** program. "When she arrived at the hoine, she functioned like a ll^-year-old,** said Mrs. Sol-man. "Initially she was thought to be retarded. Tests made at the Institute of Child t>evelopment in Israel indicated she would remain undersized due to the lack of nourishment in her early years.
