PARSHATBRESHIT . '
G-d is everywhere before us. All we need do is open our eyesand we can see
the SAec^ma on every side. . , ^\ xm j ^u^; «f
Reb Yitzchak Vurker once visited the samtly Reb Mordechai of Techernoble and was greatly impressed by his holiness. On his way back he related to all what he had seen. ..... , u .
Reb JMendel Of Kotzk met him and demanded: "Yitzchak, tell me also what
you witnessed." ^, . ^ . .
The Vurker enthused: "I saw at Reb Mordechai Techernoble the very table
that the Baal Shem Tov himself used!"
Answered the Kotzken "From a table that's just a hundred years old you re so impressed? Didn't our Rebbe Simcha Bunim (of Persischa) show us the very heavens and earth that the Al-mighty Himself uses, as it says. The heavens are My throne, and the earth My foot-stool. . . So why get so excited about a table?" (Min Hatorah)
Every leaf around us sings praise to G-d, and the bluei^kies above bear witness to G-d all around. Why doesn't G-d talk to us? He does ten times a day. In the many things we hear each day from our friends, our family, our business associates, words come out that have a double meaning.
"Be careful!" someone shouts as you cross the street^But sometimes there is a much deeper warning hidden.
♦
Every word in the Torah is precious. Said Reb Israel of Rizshin: The whole Torah is contained in the book of Breshit (Genesis); the whole book of Breshit'xs contained in the first verse; the whole first verse is contained in the first word; the first word is contained in the first letter "Bet"; the first letter is contained in the dot of the letter"Bet"; and the Tzadik of thegeneration is the dot that contains-the whole Torah. (Fun Der Chasidisch Otzrot, by Rabbi David Kirshebaum, zl) ' ,
There is nothing that is not hinted in the Torah, teach pur rabbis. The Torah was created before the Universe. What is the hint to that? The first three words of the Torah, "Bereishit bara E-lokim ... "("Iji the beginning G-d created") add up to 1202 ... The three words, "Torah, Neviim, Ketuvim (Torah, Prophets and >yritings) also add up to 1202 — to show that Torah was the blueprint for ali creation .. ."
Every word of the Torah is a piraise to G-d. Torah is not a dead thing. It is alive, living,'^exciting to those, who delve into it. Why was a person given a brain? To hone it with the study of Torah, to understand, to ask, to disclover G-d and the meaning of life. , ., May this be a year when all of us together add to our hours ofTorah study each week, and become worthy to sit in the council of Torah scholars, amen. Shabbat Shalom.
