THE OTHER DAY I'm
iiiiroughtli^ iiitle snail breezing^ Highway riiht beside me. And since iVe always had a soft spot fpr. the squashy things^ I turn to it:
"Where are you going to, my pretty snari?" **To Jerusalem'* "That's a long way off, little snail. Let me help you. Ill put you in ah envelope and send you to Jerusalem by post."
"Ta very much," says the snail, "but I'm in a hurry."
SO MUCH for my parable, which aims to put a great national tragedy in a snail-shell. Myself, for instance, I lately sent four letters to our capital, with the following results: the first letter arrived at its destination after three days; the second after 12; the third is still oil the way (and was last seen in a Mexican nightclub); but my fourth letter, as against that, reached Jerusalem in a day.
It wouldn't really be true, then, to say that our mails are slow. Rather, they're a bit jumpy.
Anyhow, why complain? The fact is that all one's letters do eventually get there — and if not there, then somewhere else. And if your greeting card doesn't arrive for ftosh Hashona it will arrive for Purim, and what of it? Good wishes /are always welcome, even if the sender may some-
times be unknown: ifor if the addressee isn't going to get your letter, somebody else will, and he may well be a much nicer person, and that ought to make you feel good.
THE GOVERNMENT, as
an an exceptional measure, even invited .some foreign experts to look into the problem of our freakish mails. But by the time they left, the experts, too, had caught the jitters, and now the postal service in their countries runs likeours — if run is the"word.
I guess it's up to me to solve the mystery; then, and I have an idea I know what it is.
When the* little Israeli postman gets tired of the daily round and his feet start to ache, he says to himself: "I'm fed up, I am. Let the post office carry its own bloody mail!" — and he takes all the letters left in his bag and drops them into the nearest mail-box.

GENEVA — A press release from .Sri Lanka's diplomatic mission in Geneva has denied reports in the world press that Israeli and British**counter-insurgency experts" have been training Sri Lankan forces, for thwr c^tnpaign against Tamil separatists, in the north of the island.
According to press reports, Israelis arrived in Sri Lanka in April and have been helping set up a para-military force.
The press release conceded that "a few Israeli specialists and a private British security firm are inSri Lanka for training purposes," adding: "No. foreigners are involved in combat operations or in planning, and there are no Mossad [Israel's central intelligence agency] agents in Sri Lanka."
It described foreign accounts of Government actions
against the Tamils as "grossly exaggeratied."
The Sri Lankan government believes that the publicity "has been orchestrated to gain sympathy [foe the Tamils], especially in \ht U.N. Sub-Commission on Prevention of Discrimination and Protection of Minorities, in session in Geneya," - jcns

Aryan Nations manipulates and distorts Christianity in order to legitimize a racist movement.
Rev, Terry Anderson, professor of Vancouver School of Theology, said the group's beliefs so blatantly contradict "every central conviction of the Christian faith" there is no need for serious theological debate.
"Even the Devil quotes Scripture for his own purposes," Rev. Anderson concluded.
