Residents and patients of Louis Brier home, scene of Vancouver Quadra polling station 58, were determined to exercise their franchise last week in Canada's thirty-third federal election.
"It was a beehive of activity," noted Nate Singer, deputy returning officfcrr **with patients and residents taking active participation in voting."
Singer said there was obvious excitement and interest in the election among elderly voters. "It was a sight to behold. It made one proud to be a dahadian,*' he commented. ,

"Exercising their vote gave them the feeling they're still a member of the community and of the country," said Wolochow.
Many yoters were in their 80s, she added, and the oldest participant was Rosia Watson. At 104-years of age, Watson latbr remarked $he had madfr her choice long before election day. ;
Wolochow Explained a few residents had recently become Canadian citizens and were A^oting for the first time. "They were proud to be voting in their new country," §he said.
