So how do you solve the problem of attracting Orthodox, Conservative, Reform and Reconstructionist students to a unified service Without offending anyone? Apparently Claremont, a coir lege 30 miles east of L.A., thought it had a solution when it advertised High Holy Day services recently as closely following the Recon-formadox ritual . . . Twould be interesting to know how the mishmash approach
worked!

When we reported on our front page Oct. 17) that Israel lost to Russia, in European Zonal Davis Cup finals, we didn't know bow close the terinis game actually was . . . It was a narrow 3-2 defeat for Israel in Donetsk, Ukraine ... Soviet officials defied the spirit and tradition of the Davis Cup — while carefully complying with the letter of the rules — when they issued only eight visas to the Israeli team, and these only at the last minute in Vienna . . . No Israeli newsmen were given visas arid the Russians refused to play Haiikva for the Israeli-team or to exchange flags at the official ceremony — as was done for other participating countries . . . In Israel everyone followed the fortunes of the superb Israeli tennis team, with nail-biting intensity because almost the only thing all Israeli Jews are agreed upon is that they don't like Russia. . . How everyone in Israel would have appreciated a tennis win for Israel against Russia — which refuses to let our People go ... engages in overt anti-Semitism .. . and provides weaponry and experts for
Israel's enemies.
