New works to premiere in Baiiet B.C. program

Ballet British Columbia will present one world premiere and two Canadian premieres as part of its program Feb. 6 and 7 at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre (QE) beginning at 8 p.m.
The world premiere is Petite Sinfonie Concertante by the National Ballet's David Allan, who was commissioned by Ballet British Columbia to create a new abstract work.
The two Canadian premieres are John Butler's Medea which was created especially for Mikhail Bary-shinkov and Carla Fracci and Opus J. It is performed to Anton Webem*s Passacaglia for Orchestra. o^.V.
The fourth ballet on the program is Hangman's Reel, which is based on Quebec fblkldie.

who joined the -National Ballet of Canada in 1974, will undertake the premiere of Masada during the 1986/87 season. j~
In July I98S, Allan asartis-tic director of the National Ballet, with a company of eight dancers, directed *^Stars and Soloists of Ballet in Canada.** This company presented a retrospective of all of Allan's' ballets. It played throughout Italy to sold-out houses and great critical acclaim.

Einstein written and directed by Gabriel Emanuel, starring Peter Boretski and produced l^'^lfhe" ^epesh Theatre Company will be at the Vancouver East Cultural Centre (VECQ Feb. 11-15 and Feb. 18-22 with performances at 8:30 p.m. - The script has just been picked up by the Habimah Theatre, the national company of Israel, which will produce the Hebrew version this month. directed by former Winni-pegger, Howard Rypp.

Emanuel has rejoined his former colleague Rypp in Israel for the production.

The play takes place in Bin-stein^s Princeton University study on his 70th. birthday as he reminisces about his paradoxical life.
Boretski (Einstein) is an actor, director and producer who has worked in theatre,, film and television both in Canada and abroad.uHeJia&_ appeared on Broadway, in London's West End^ the Edinburgh Festival and^^in the European tour of I'itiis' Andronicus directed by Peter Brook.
BoretskiV television features have included episodes of CBC^i King of Kensington, Momefiresi IJie Littlest Hoboh and-in the role of Paul Trefius, the J^wishidiamond merehant Iti aiarlie Grartt's War.
Playwright Gabriel Emanuel is a lawyer and a co-founder of Nepesh Theatre Company. He is the author of several plays including Children of Night, Nokody's Pool, and most recently If You Will It which premiered in Israel and will be touring the U.S. in the near fiitiire.
He has written a screen play version of Bnstein and is a' featured writer on CBC*s award winning radio ipro-gmm^ The Scales of Justice.
