Joyous celebration dedicates Belt Moshe, welcomes new Torah scroll
By JANNETTE MULHOLLAND
It was a time of excitement and rejoicing recently when Richmond's Eitz Chaim had the double celebration of welcoming their new Torah scroll and dedicating the congregation's new home and future site of their planned Beit Moshe Centre.
"A year ago we made a commitment (to the building)
and now the commitment has come true," said Eitz Chaim's Rabbi Avraham Feigelstock.
"We are- dedicating this building today as a house of G-d."
It was a celebration culminating a weekend of activity for the congregation; According to Marilyn Hooper, who co-ordinated the event together with Elan Heller, the festivities were "inspiring."
"We had a good response.

Both Redman and White House spokesman Harlin Fitzwater said the administration would not comment on the PLO's hew program until it was able to study the texts.
But Fitzwater said it had "positive elements," if, as reported, the PNG accepted UN. Security Council Resolutions 242 and 338;
Redman only said that it would be "a positive step" if there Avere explicit recognition of the two resolutions.
The Reagan administratibn has supported Israel in its opposition to a Palestinian state. Vice-President George ' Bush reiterated this position in a speech during his campaign for the presidency to B'nai B'rith International in September.
"1 have made very clear that I am opposed to an independent Palestinian state for a simple reason," Bush said. "Such a state would be a threat to the security of Israel and of Jordan, which is crucial to any lasting settlement of the conflict. And, I would add, it would also be contrary to America's interests."
proclamation of an independent Palestinian state.
S^yift and strong reactioii to the declaration crossed party lines. Prime Minister Yitzhak Shamir of Likud called the Algiers declaration just another stage "in the terroriist war against the existence of Israel and its independence" being waged by the PLO.
Foreign Minister Shimon Peres, head of the Labor

Party, said it was just another PLC effort to avoid the need for clear, decisive decisions.
Although the PNC delegates accepted U N. Security Council Resolution 242 which implicitly recognizes Israel, it was done with "crooked additions" which cannot be ignored, Peres said.
An official statement by the Foreign Ministry said the PLO has shown again it cannot or will not accept reality.
