Levin again directs Miriam
The personnel committee for Camp Miriam this week announced the appointment of Nomi Levin as camp director for the second consecutive year.

Hillel focuses on Syrian Jews
• Back in full swing for this term, Hillel House has planned a variety of dCciting pro=-grams. Today, Jaii. 25 at 12:30 p.m. Network students, in conjunction with Hillel, are presenting a pirogram entitled "Reacting to the; Plight of Syrian Jews: A Student Perspective", which will feature a talk by and discussion with Rabbi David Bassous.
Network students, recently returned from their recent adventures in Israel, say th^t this program is designed to involve students actively in giving them information on how they can have a direct affect on this crucial situation.
Preparations are iinderway for UBC's annual Israel Week, this year running. Feb. 27, 28 and March 1. Co-sponsors Hillel and the Israel Program Centre say that enthusiasm and energy for this event are running high this year. They indicated that a varied and rich program will present Israel to the campus and general community in informative and creative ways. **It is hoped that many Jewish agencies' and organizations' projects and works in Israel can be represented at the Israel Week displays on campus this year," said organizers.
As well, an Outreach Oneg Shabbat will be held at Hillel on Friday, Feb. 2 at 6 p.m., featuring songs, prayers, storytelling and, of course, Hillel's famous delicious cuisine. Youth dramatize novel Feb. 1 at JCC

American-Israel Secondary School Program on Kibbutz Kfar Blum in 1982-83. Completing the leadership training program at Miriam in 1983, she continued her training at a central leadership camp in New York in 1984.
Since 1985 Levin has been on Camp Miriam staff, first as a counsellor and later in more senior positions. This spring she will graduate from UBC with a degree-in political science.

Beate Klarsfeld, who publicized the letter in Paris, said it was translated into Arabic by the French embassy in Damascus and delivered to the presidential palace and Syrian foreign affairs ministry. She said it was not accepted at either place.
