TALMUD tORAH Grade 7 class of 37 students at graduation ceremohie special recognition was Alexandra Rothstein, awarded the Meyer and Bea Goldberg Award as overall outstanding student. Several awards were conferred upon teachers, including the BX. Ministry of Education Teaching Excellence Award to Margof Carter and Outstanding Achievement Awardto Joanne Greenwood. The newly-established Harold Grunfeld MIdot Award was presented to Hannah Meyer for character development embodying the philosophy of T.T.
The 1990 Hadassah-WIZO Esther awards celebration "was truly, a night to reihem-ber," according to convener EsteUe Bleet. ^
Over 150 attended the gala affair to watch the presentation of 70 awards and enjoy music, refreshments and "exquisite pastry,** said Bleet.

The Canadian Zionist Federation and Jewish Federation of Greater Vancouver presented scholarships to two Vancouver students last month.
Tal Zalel will attend Grade 10 in Israel at Kibbutz Kfar Blum, and Yaron Amir, who just graduated from high school, will spend the year on Habonim Dror's workshop program.
The scholarships were made available through a CZF endowment from the late Leah Minster and monies raised during this year's Walk With Israel.

In his president's report, Krell said that the Society's many ongoing projects and activities are functioning well. The Holocaust documentation project has recorded ten more Survivor eye-witness testimonies and a grant has been received to continue this project. The membership drive was* also successful, bringing in 250 new members.
Ronnie Tessler, director of the Society, provided a comprehensive update on Holocaust-related programs and activities VHC has participated in over the past year. These included Kristallnacht, the Holocaust Symposium, outreach, Yom Hashoah and the Survivors Tribute Evening.
A new slate of directors was presented by Arthur Pouchet of the nominating committee, and~elected uhliiiimously. New executive board includes: Robert Krell, president; Leon Kahn and David Shafran, vice presidents; Mariette Doduck,

technicians employed by El Al have been arrested in connection with a large-scale smuggling operation. Moshe Ramos, 54, and Moshe Keren, 43, are suspected of smuggling video cameras, video recorders and other high-tech electronic equipment from the U.S. to Israel.
