The long flight has come to an^nd.
A new immigrant from the Soviet Union is getting off the plane, a small child held tightly in her arms.
"We've come home..says the look in her eyes.
She arrived on July 22, 1990, one of 15,924 Soviet Jews who came to Israel in the month of July.
(The flow continues . . • In the month of August, approximately 16,500 arrived).
Her life in Russia, with all the threats and uncertainties, is now a closed chapter, left behind.
She is overcome with emotion ... But the next morning, the challenge of absorption begins — everyday life^ with the problems of housing, and a job, and learning Hebrew, and care for the child.
"Operation Exodus" is about bringing her to freedom, and helping her to establish a new life.
It's our way of looking into her eyes and telling her, "you are part of us".
