When Cantor Murray Nixon receives the Ben-Gurion University of the Negev Award on Sunday, Aug. 21, it will be presented by a man who is also the recipient of many honoi-s.
Rabbi Jordan Pearlson, national president of Canadian Associates of - Ben^^ Gurion University of the Negev, will present the award at the Cantor Murray Nixon Tribute Dinner. The dinner takes place at 7 p.m. at the Hyatt Regency Hotel.
Blossom Weinstein is convening the event, while Mark Zlotnik acts as dinner chairman. JHonorary chairman Rabbi Wilfred Solomon will pay tribute to Cantor Nixon.
Keynote speaker will be Amos Ben-Gurion, son of the late Israeli prime minister David Ben-Gurion.

The Rabbi Jordan Pearlson Outreach Progi-am was founded at BGU in honor of 25 years of service to the Jewish people.
The Massachusetts native •also pioneered Toronto's first non-sectarian program for retarded children.
He has been made an Honorary Citizen of Metropolitan Toronto.
Rabbi Pearlson, who interned in pastoral psychiatry at New York's Bellevue Hospital, writes a religoius column for Toronto Star and is the corresponding editor of the quarterly Christian-Jewish Relations published by World Jewish Congress.
He has served as president of the Toronto Board of Rabbis and as national chairman of several committees for Canadian Jewish Congress.

Dr. Moshe Wolf M.D. will deliver three lectures in August on different aspects of contemporary Jewish culture and history.
On Sunday Aug. 21 at 7:30 p.m. the world-renowned scholar and lecturer will speak at the Yiddish Library, Vancouver Peretz Institute in a talk dedicated to the memory of 23 Jewish writers who perished in the Holocaust. Refreshments will be served.
On Wednesday, Aug. 24 at 12:30 p. m. he will speak to the Golden Age Club at the Jewish Community Centre of Greater Vancouver. His talk is entitled, Lessons from the Jewish calendar and the social meaning of Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur."
On Thursday, Aug. 25 at 3:30 p.m. Wolf will speak at the Louis Brier Home on "Stalin's lost war against the Jews."

TORONTO — Twenty-nine percent of all immigrants to Israel this past year were not Jewish, the Israel Interior Ministry revealed recently. The figure prompted calls from some quarters to repeal the Law of Return, which grants immigration and citizenship rights to Jews and their families.

MAMAT-GAN, Israel — Student enrolment at Bar-Ilan University has topped 17,000, an increase of close to 1,000 over last year. Faculty counts almost 300 new staff members.

"A musical match made in heaven" was how one reviewer described the performance of Herschel and Judy Fox.
The Foxes are among featured performers at Congre-gation Shaarey Tefilah's upcoming fundraiser, which organizers promise will be an evening full of Jewish humor and song.
The event will take place Saturday, Oct. I, 8:30 p.m. at the Hyatt Hotel.
Herschel, who does comedy in what organizers term "the American show biz tradition'*, covers such topics as Jewish culture, family and religious life.
After beginning as a young cantor in Winnipeg, Herschel travelled for many years in the Yiddish theatre as a singer/actor. He appeared with such artists as Jan Peerce, Cantor David Kusevitsky, Mickey Katz and many others.
Judy was a popular singer on the New York night club circuit for many years. She has opened for Rodney Pangerfield, and has appeared at New York's Copacabana, Riverboat and conventions. She was also a favorite at resorts in the Catskills.
Appearing with the Foxes at the synagogue fundraiser is L.Ar comedian Johnny,^ Yune.
