WRESTLING
Many are the Jewish stars in wrestling, but the name of Ruffy Silverstein of Chicago leads the list. Young master Silverstein, Big Ten champion a few years ago, turned professional under the guidance of Ed White and has already annexed the Illinois state title. Short and squat, but the strength and speed of a superman in his muscles, Silverstein is slowly but surely working his way to the top,
ICE SKATING
He'll be crooning in his own orchestra some day, but the odds are he'll be an Olympic ice skating champion first. Young Bob Sherman—he's 20—came within inches and seconds of earning a position on Uncle Sam's Olympic ice skating team in trials held at Oconomowoc, Wis., last winter. Bob finished second to Leo Frei-singer, who set a new 500-meter record in winning the trial. Young Bob is sure to improve and we may hear from him again this coming winter.

Jewish Authorities Prepare For Emergency
The Jewish Agency Executive reassured the Jewish populace of Palestine, at the same time counselling discipline. A statement was issued following an urgent meeting of the provisional Executive dealing with steps taken for security and economic preparedness in consultation with several Yishuv committees planning for the emergency.
An extraordinary meeting of the Tel Aviv Municipality decided to empower a security committee and also to purchase gas masks. It determined also to apply to the Government for price-fixing regulations and to urge financial grants for activities connected with the present situation.
Air Raids Precautions instructions were issued to the Civil Guard, while the Jewish Agency opened a number of ofl'ices for coordination of Air Raids Precautions.
Trenches Dug At Haifa
Signs of preparedness for war were abundant at Haifa where trenches were dug and British cannon mounted, to protect the harbor, keystone of British defense in the eastern Mediterranean, and the pipeline.
