In consultation with Dean Gage of UBC, the scholarship committee chaired by Mrs. S. Green, have arranged the following:
One $200 Bursary for a student specializing in Social Group Work, a course nearest in interest to Council's mandated projects.
One $100 Bursary to UBC School of Nursing to a final year student nurse.
One $100 Sol Grand scholarship to a teacher training scholarship.
One Teacher-Training scholarship, $100.
One Adult Education scholarship — the first to be presented in Canada by Council women. Initial presentation was in 1963, $100.
One revolving Camp scholarship for $50, this year for Camp Miriam.

Five of Vancouver's finest homes have been selected for an Architectural Tour on Tuesday, May 11. These homes were chosen for their wide variety in structure, interior decor and landscaping.
Homes to be shown are the residences of Dr. and Mrs. J. L. Danto, 6095 Balaclava; Mr. and Mrs. F. N. Youngm.an, 4705 Drummond drive; the estate of Mrs. E. W. Kamber, 3838 Cypress; Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Boult-bee, 8625 Angus Drive; Mr. and Mrs. P. R. Sandwell, 1389 The Crescent.
These are homes which Nor-dau chapter of Hadassah have arranged for public viewing on May 11. Starting at 11:15 a.m. at the Centre, coffee will be served. At 11:45 a.m., chartered buses leave the Centre for guided tours through these magnificent residences.
Tickets may be purchased at the Vancouver Ticket Centre, Queen Elizabeth theatre, all Eaton's Stores and Kerris-dale Travel, 2292 W. 41st Ave. Tickets are limited and must be purchased prior to May 11. All proceeds are for Hadassah charities.
feelings of pride and sadness in his short but shining career. As a young student, undecided as to his choice of career, he was advised of a Council scholarship in the field of Social Work and accepted it.
From this beginning, with a Bachelor of Social Work degree from Manitoba, Sol Grand went on to Toronto to work in a welfare office. From there, through Canadian Jewish Congress, he eventually achieved a great sense of human fulfillment as executive director of the new Mt. Sinai Institute.
At the age of 34, on December 25, 1952, his life ended. To all who now read of Council's Sol Grand Scholarship, granted annually, his memory continues.
Looking back on camps and campships.
Who remembers the days during the depression, when Council women trekked to the North Shore, a wilderness of blackberry bushes and nature; leased some of the land to embark oh a project which became the first Jewish kosher camp in B.C. Not lacking in ambition, this camp accepted children, mothers and pre-

schoolers as well. Judging from the weight gain recorded for each camper, a good time was had by all.
Think of the unexpected pleasure of a holiday for the young immigrant mother — little money, less time — given a holiday with three good kosher meals a day. She could relax; ready hands helped with | the children; life was beautiful for at least a short while.
The campers grew in number and so did financial sup- ; port. In 1937 the camp moved ' on to Crescent ,Beach with ex- • perienced   counsellors, real huts and aid from the Community Chest. In time, this ; camp was sold to the Zionist ; Organization who in turn inaugurated Camp Hatikvah.
Who were some of the women that bravely initiated this project with devotion and hard work? Still active, still inter- i ested and still working are,

NEW YORK — Egyptian soldiers are equipped with automatic rifles which were produced in Israel, according to a report published in the weekly magazine, Newsweek. The publication adds that these weapons were originally purchased by Sudan from West Germany and thence exported to Egypt. All rifles carry in bold letters the inscription, "Made in Israel."

DR. P. ADILMAN
Lawrence Freiman, president of the Zionist Organization of Canada, has announced that Dr. Phil Adilman of Vancouver has been co-opted to the national executive of the Z.O.C.
Dr. Adilman has served for a number of years on the Pacific Region Zionist Executive. He is a former president of Western Region of Canadian Young Judaea, and currently Zionist chairman in charge of Adult Young Judaea committee.
