Musical score is being composed by Lalo Schiftin. ' Because he had such a good time at the recent party given by Truman Capote, David Merrick plans to throw one himself next year. Said the Broadway producer, "1 was inspired. Agnon, who, with Nelly Sochs, received the Nobel Prize for Literature Saturday night. Stockholm, Sweden. - Two .'ewish authors - one from Israel and the other from Sweden - received their Nobel Prizes Saturday evening from King Gustaf VI Adolf. The annual award ceremony was held in Stockholm's Concert Hall in the presence of the royal family. Government leaddersandthe diplomatic corps. Together with the dinner that followed in Sockhnlm's Towti Hall, it was an usual Scandinavia's most glittering event of the year. This was also the 75th birthday of Nelly Sachs, the German-bom poet who shared the Nobel Literature Prize with Shmuel Yosef Agnon, the Hebrew writer who lives in Jerusalem, Mr. Agnon is 78. Miss Sachs and Mr. Agnon were selected for the award by the Swedish Academy, which hailed them as "outstanding Jewish authors, each of whom represents Israel's message to our time." Each received from the hands of the King a gold medal and a diploma. They will share the prize money, which amounts this year to the equivalent of nearly $60,000. ISRAEUARAB AT OXFORD London, (JCNS) - An Israeli Arab is doing postgraduate research at Oxford with the assistance of the British Friends of the Hebrew University. This was disclosed by the chairman, Professor Norman Bentwich when presenting his report to the Friends annual meeting at the Assembly Hall, University of London. At the same time two non-Jewish scholars are studying at the Hebrew University, Jerusalem, with the assistance of the British Friends. Although the Friends last year raised less money than in the previous record year.
