Can an institution pledged to the supremacy of Torah do justice to the curriculum required of Ontario secondary schools? Toronto's Beth Jacob High School for Girls anid Teachers' Seminary answered with a resounding and triumphant "yes' to both these questions. This year, the school had seven students enrolled in its Grade 13 class. All of them passed the difficult courses in this grade which in itself is quite an achievement But there is more to the story, Two of these graduates, Libby Burak and Sally Kipper, now carry the proud title, Ontario Scholar, awarded to those students whose high marks netted them Ontario scholarships. They are former sttidents of Toronto's EitzChaimDay School This is the school's answer to all those who doubt that it is possible to do topflight work in both Torah and English studies. A year ago, when Beth Jacob High School had its. fir St graduation and produced several Ontario Scholars, it was put down to "beginners luck". Today the luck story won't work. When fine achievements follow year in year out, they prove the excellent direction the school receives. The school has everything for building excellence of mind and body: an outstanding staff for secular studies coupled with an equally distinguished group of Torah scholars as well as an Olympic size swimming pool and gymnasium. Rabbi Akiva Stefansky is the principal of Beth Jacob High School. Rabbi M. J. Bobrowsky is its president. EXCEL IN STUDIES.- From left to rl«m,UM>y Buraic, Sally Kipper.
