Pt. Simpson Man Has Own Seiner Design
A 36-year-old tenderman, Ernest Wright of Port Simpson, has designed a seiner, the main drawing for which is reproduced on this page.
Although he has had no formal art training or lessons in draft-manship, Wright has won some recognition of his talent, and his painting of the Parker, built at Burrard Dry Dock during the war, was acquired by the Wallace family.
Now a UFAWU member, Wright is attached to the Prince Rupert Fishermen's Local.
Letters shown in the drawing represent:
A — Skipper's quarters; B — Crew quarters for eight men; C—Mess room; D—Communications room; E—Engineer's quar-
ters for two; G—Cook's quarters. Numerals indicate:
1—Corkline winch; 2—Anchor winch; 3—Bow flare; 4—Main topping winch; 5—Winch control console; 6 — Main winch; 7 — Purse seine winch; 8 — Main boom winches; 9—Brailing boom winch; 10—Utility room; 11—Air horn; 12—Bull horn; 13—Puretic power block; 14—Choker winch; 15—Gear locker; 16—Fire station.
