New Vessels Make It
Launching in April this year of Emil Jensen's Royal Venture and Fred Kohse's Eastward Ho began another important chapter in the careers of two of British Columbia's best-known fishermen and also marked a continuing relationship between owners and builders of the vessels.
In each case, the vessel was the third unit built for
its owner by Star Shipyard (Mercers) Ltd. of New Westminster. Star Shipyard built the Blue Pacific for Jensen in 1957 and launched his Royal City in 1963. Kohse's earlier vessels from the yard were the B.C. Producer, built in 1947, and the Sleep Robber, completed in 1956.
All four vessels were advanced additions to the fleet and are still working effi-
ciently in various sections of the fishery. The two new combination boats again reflect their owners' belief that constant change and improvement are key requirements for success in today's fishing industry.
