The regular meeting of the "Vancouver Branch S.P.S.U. was held at 2 P. 1.1. Sunday, November 23th at Union Headquarters, 164 E. Hastings St. and was attended by practically every member in town.
Brother Jurich, General Secretary of the S.P.S.j. was present and. gave a very interesting report on many of the points that will come before the Convention in Seattle. Ha also dealt with some of the problems common to both sides of the line and Alashs, end showed that only through organization and co-operation could these problems be solved.
The attentive manner in which his talk was received gave ample proof of the members' interest in the international .. labor movement. , ;,
Brother Miller reported on the question of the Canadian Pishing Company illegally deducting assessments from the earnings of boat crews, for compensation, and pointed out that this had been going on for ten years.
The Union has placed the case in the hands of a larger, Mr. Murphy, for collection. I-Ir. Murphy was present at the meeting and explained the legal aspects of the case.
A motion was pasred authorizing Mr. Murphy to handle the case and calling on all members to hand in their claims to the union for collection.
The meeting endorsed the proposed Joint P.C.J."J. and S.P.S.U. Dance, the proceeds of which arc to be split 50-50 between the Women's Auxiliary and the "Fisherman''.
The following five delegates were elected to represent the Branch at the Seattle Convention: Bros. Dan Hemow, joe De Casta, John llecash, John Metallic and George Miller.
Two delegates, Bros. 'William Gee and Marion Ruljanoviteh, were elected to attend the P.C.F.U. Convention in Vancouver on December Vtl and one delegate, Brother C. Cook, was elected to attend the Convention of B.C. Trollers.
_ HE SOLUTIONS -
The following resolutions were passed by the meeting:
A resolution supporting the defense of King, Ramsay and Connor, California frame-up victims.
A resolution to Premier King, protesting the infamous ''Padlock1' law now operating in the province of Quebec.
A resolution protesting against the Compulsory Arbitration Bill now contemplated by the provincial Government.
The delegates to the S.P.S.U. Convention were instructed to bring up the following points:
(1) That the Vancouver Branch be

given the status of a Sub-District and changes made in the Constitution to allow for the necescary autonomy.
(2) That the sentiment of this local is that a general referendum ballot of the entire membership be taken on the question of C.I.O. affiliation.
Brother George Miller, Branch agent, was voted a bonus of $99 for his good work in organizing during the past summer.■ Brother Miller has been a full-time official on the meagre salary of ^10 per wee'e, and since the question of wages cannot be dealt with until the next election, the membership felt that a bonus was the only way left.
