SALMON FOR ALLIES; LESS FOR JAPAN
In reply to the request for information by the PCFU, the Assistant Commissioner of Fisheries for the Province, Mr. George J. Anlexander, has informed Secretary Hill that in order to supplement the stocks of protein food for Empire countries during the present national emergency," the provincial government has decided that Salmon Dry Saltery Licenses will not be issued. This will tend to divert the salmon which would be ordinarily sold and exported to Japan, to those methods of production which supply Empire or allied countries with protein food.
In short, the action of the provincial government is being taken solely as a war measure.
