Editor, The Fisherman: In regard to the statement on Page 3 of your issue of April 4, I think the word "imaginate" in connection with herring is rather confusing. I have been unable to find anyone in accord with the assertion that those fish immigrate. Had we not rather use the word "migrate," or if it is an established fact that the herring do immigrate, which sometimes would appear likely,

I thank you for the extra page in that issue and hope it is here to stay.

We regret to announce the death of Brother George Baldigara at St. Paul's Hospital on April 12. Brother Baldigara is survived by his wife, Janica, and son Johnny. The funeral was held last Saturday from the Home Funeral Chapel and was attended by many union members.
Brother Baldigara was born in Vrbnik, Yugoslavia, in 1897. He left his native country in 1923 and after living in France and Cuba he came to Vancouver in 1926. He started fishing in 1930 and was a member of the United Fishermen's Union for many years.

Editor, The Fisherman: Bless 'em all — bless 'em all — We filleters never do stall. Bless all the boats that bring the fish in, Cod fish and soles and all of their kin; We see them by thousands each day. "Rush up your fillets," they say — Will this never end? To our knives we tend. Oh, cheer up, my pals-bless 'em all.
Bless 'em all, bless 'em all. A filleter's life beats them all. Bless

these fish. That they'd let them grow larger is our only wish. We see thousands of fish every day. "Rush up our fillets," they say. Will this never end? To our knives we tend. Oh, cheer up, my pals-bless 'em all.

havana union gains pay boost, seniority from canadian banks
HAVANA. (ALN). — Employees of U.S. and Canadian banks in this city won salary increases of from 25 to 40 percent as the result of the approval of their contract by the Conciliation Commission last month. The contract further provides for the establishment of seniority and does away with former salary levels of from 50 to 60 pesos ($50-$60 U.S.) a month for responsible positions. The Bank Employees Union was formed in the autumn of 1943 from among workers in the Havana branches of the National City Bank of New York, the Royal Bank of Canada, the First National Bank of Boston and the Bank of Nova Scotia. It is an affiliate of the Confederation of Cuban Workers.

Trust Law Used Against Liver Pools
SEATTLE.—The Deep Sea Fishermen's Union, Fishing Vessel Owners' Association of Seattle, Halibut Liver Oil Producers' Co. and six individuals have been con-viced by a Federal Court jury of violating the Sherman Anti-Trust Law by attempting to "corner" halibut liver oils.
The group were found guilty by a jury which deliberated 28 hours after hearing nearly four weeks of testimony.
Acquitted were Ludvig Larsen, Harold Grotle, Daniel Arbuckle, Otto Nicksen, Parr Reese, Peter Jacobsen, Peter Leiren, Harold E. Lokken and Julius Pedersen.
The individuals convicted were Lyle E. Branchflower of Halibut Liver Oil Producers Co.; John Tor-vig .Alexander Jacobsen and Ivar Sather, all members of the union's executive board, and Bernard Hansen and N. J. Mathison, members of the board of the Vessel Owners' Association.
The indictment charged the defendants conspired to restrict halibut liver oil business to the defendant company through threatening ship owners with withdrawal "of union crews if sales were made to competing firms.
A defense motion for a new trial is now before the Federal Court,
