YOUR REPUTATION IS ALWAYS MISTAKE
The best basis on which to build a good name is QUALITY . . . especially in the fisheries business.
Customers at home and abroad want and deserve the best that Canadian fisheries can produce. Quality is the "buy-w.ord" with customers everywhere.
World markets for Canada's exportable fish surplus will be maintained only so long as customer satisfaction is the objective in every phase of production.
Fisherman_ processor, wholesaler, exporter, retailer . . . make quality your motto. The satisfaction of customers throughout Canada ... as well as Canada's high export reputation . . . depends on you.

HON. R. W. MAYHEW, Minister.
Not much coal was coming from the pits, however, as the General Confederation of Labor (CGT), with which most of the miners are affiliated, urged workers not to mine coal while police patrolled the areas.
At the same time came expressions from labor groups in neighboring countries.
The Italian General Confederation of Labor (CGIL) sent financial aid to the striking miners, along with a message expressing "complete solidarity with your courageous struggle for bread and in defense of your threatened trade union rights."
From Romanian miners came "complete backing in your fight against government terror and foreign imperialists. Your struggle," the statement continued, "is a great contribution to the world-

wide fight for peace, democracy and progress."
In Poland, union collections for the miners are surpassing all quotas. Youth and consumer groups are also joining in the fund-raising camaign.
CANUCKS BACK BROTHERS
Striking French miners have the complete support of the men who work in Nova Scotia's coal pits, Dist. 18 President Freeman Jenkins of the United Mine Workers announced a few days ago.
, Jenkins, who said he agreed with UMW President John L. Lewis that the French miners needed U.S. economic aid in the form of money for food not bullets, likened the miners' fight to recent Canadian workers' struggles.
"Coal miners the world over," he declared, "like those in the maritime provinces, have so often gone through the same struggles for a living wage that we well understand French miners' problems and bffer them our complete sympathy and sincerest hope for final victory."
Even now, Jenkins pointed out, Nova Scotia miners are seeking a daily wage boost of $2.56. Such an increase would raise the present daily pay of $7.64 to $10.20, on a par with wages paid in western Canadian coal fields.
Something Fishy
There is little I know of the ways
of the sea, And the work that the fishermen
do,
So lest ignorance be taken as wilful in me I am putting my questions to you.
Now if fish, as I've heard, is so
good for the brain, Why is it that fish are so dumb? I have heard of trained seals or a
dog you can train, But I've yet to observe a trained
chum.
And just who it can be that a
"Leader" could lead I am sure that I haven't a notion. But, what's far more important is
shielding our creed From the fishes that live in the
ocean
In the interests of freedom 'and
maybe reaction), Which we fear that the fish will
take from us. Against Pink and Red Salmon I
move we take action. Quick — Someone call J. Parnell

FAO S urveys Siam Fisheries
A two-man commission has been sent to Siam by the Food and Agriculture Organization to make a rapid survey of the problems of the fishing industry in that country. One of the members of the commission is from the Division of Fisheries and the other from the Inland Fisheries Laboratory of the Indonesian Department of Agriculture and Fisheries. The commission will make a study of the inland and marine fisheries, and will pay particular attention to extension services for the development of fish culture and the production of fresh-water, brackish, and marine fisheries, and problems of marketing and distribution.
The fisheries of Siam are relatively primitive and there appears to be an opportunity for development. The mission, however, will be able only to survey the problems and to furnish advice to the Siamese government in working out a program for research and development.
MESSAGE OF THANKS
We wish to thank our neighbors and friends for their great kindness and floral tributes in our recent sad bereavement in the loss of a husband and father.
