the weekend closure of 36 hours, beginning 12 o'clock midnight Friday until 12 o'clock noon Sunday with the exception only of the Lower East Coast Area where a 42 hour closed period begins at 6 p.m. Friday until 12 o'clock noon Sunday.
No decision was made in regard to the Christmas lay-up, though there were expressions of opinion that the New Year reopening should be slightly later than January 4 as was the case last season. The negotiating committee has been empowered to bring in a recommendation to the next meeting, which has been set for Saturday, October 14 at 2 p.m. in the Fishermen's Hall. In regard to the next meeting, it was decided last Saturday that, "All boats intending to fish herring must come in to port to enable members to attend."
ORGANIZATION STEPS
Additional policies adopted at the meeting concerned organization. Members present voted that all boats going on herring must clear with the IUFAWU before sailing. Delegates from 40 vessels were

Bowling Notes
Canfisco Fillets, Tulpaks Share Top Spot In Bowling League
By BILLY DONALDSON
Quite a few supporters were on hand to boost' tlieir favorite teams, mostly for the Canfisco Fillets and the Canadian Fish All Stars, who are running very close together in the league race as can be seen below.
The management were complaining mildly about the attitude of the supporters who were a little over enthusiastic at time. We feel that it is the privilege of the management to use measures to cope with such cases, as we have only to look after the conduct of our players which has been extraordinarily good so far. Furthermore, as this has been the best year that we have had, there is not any question but that we will try and keep that record intact, even if disciplinary measures have to be used.
Canfisco Fillets now share the top position on the table with Tul-Paks, closely followed by Smok-eens, Outcasts, Can. Fish All Stars, and Hy-Waves. It is too early in the first half to say who will be the eventual winners as only four points separate the first eight teams. The attendance record is good, and anything can happen as the players get into their stride.
I see by the list on hand that the average of Helen Smith has dropped to 209 which is still good but she will have to be right on her toes as Dot Eckman of Tul-Paks has had another three games of 603. Mrs. Edna Gallagher is looking after the records and is making a real good job of it, which helps us considerably and if we have the same cooperation that has been given in the past seasons, we
should have a record season.
High scores for the week ending Tuesday October 3, inclusive are: Men's High Three, Bert Hughes, Tul-Paks, 726; Men's High Single, Bert Hughes, Tul-Paks, 274; Ladies High Three, Dot Eckman, Tul-Paks, 603; Ladies High Single, Olga Rush, Outcasts, 270.
Helen Smith still holds the high average of 209, and Jimmy Williams still holds the high average of 229.
Team High Single Game, Canfisco Fillets, 945; Team High Three Games, Outcasts, 2671.
High scores for the week of October 3: Bert Hughes, Tul-Paks, 274, 265; Olga Bush, Outcasts, 270; Les Cross, Queen Charlottes, 262; Mel Davies, Smokeens, 258; Kay Koehler, Canfisco Stars, 258; Jack McMurray, Outcasts, 258; Niel Mc-Leod, Sockeyes, 256; Dot Eckman, Tul-Paks, 254; E. Ericksen, Canfisco Stars, 242; Jimmy Grierson, Smokeens, 240; E. Kamstra, Challengers, 229.
