London. (JCNS.) Yet another step in the posthumous rehabilitation of Shloime Mikhoels, the late director of the Yiddish State Theatre and leader of the Jewish Anti-Fascist Committee, was taken in the Soviet Union.
The Art Publishing House
in Moscow has just issued, in Russian, a memorial volume entitled "S. Mikhoels", cpntain-ing speeches and articles by him as well as records of conversations on literary and theatrical topics. The volume, which is illustrated with many
photos of Mikhoels in parts that had made him famous as an actor, was printed in 10,000 copies.
The Moscow Yiddish Theatre and the Anti-Fascist Committee were disbanded towards the end of 1948, soon after the

B. G. OFFICIAL VISIT TO FRANCE
Tel Aviv (JCNS). General de Gaulle has suggested June 14 or June 15 as possible dates for his meeting with Mr. Ben-Gurion, official Israeli sources confirmed here.
Mr. Walter Eytan, the Israeli Ambassador to France, on Tuesday met the Director-General of the Quai d'Orsay, M. Eric De Carbonnel, and was given the two alternative dates. Mr. Eytan is due to meet M. de Carbonnel again to submit the final date chosen by Mr. Ben-Gurion.
Official sources here explain the delay in fixing the date of the visit by the recent absence from France of General de-Gaulle and M. Couve de Mur-ville;
Immediately after his three-day visit to France, Mr. Ben-Gurion intends to visit Holland and Belgium.

mutilated body of their leader, Mikhoels, was found in the outskirts of Minsk whence he had been summoned to a mysterious Jewish cultural gathering which never took place. He was given a state funeral, but in 1953 his name appeared in the "Jewish doctors' plot" in which it was alleged that he had played a leading, role. COMMENTARY
By M. J. Nurenberger
(Continued From Page 1) of such an advertisement could be international action detrimental to Israel. What action? Would the "Neturei Karta" be happy if a foreign Government imposes its will upon the sovereign state of Israel? I do not believe so. Thus, I am inclined to think that the entife statement has been caused by people ill-advised who are exploiting too much, paraphrasing Heine, their right to be stupid.

BAR KOCHBA'S
LETTERS FOUND
AT EIN GEDDI
Jerusalem (JCNS). Eleven letters written by Bar Kochba have been discovered recently in a cave overlooking the Dead Sea, near Ein Geddi. General Yigael Yadin revealed the discovery and said it was made thanks to a study President Bcn-Zvi had made of papyri found at the end of March.
Seven letters have so far been opened. They contain in-.«;ti-uctions from the leader of the Jewish revolt to bis officers in the Bethlehem area concerning harvesting and the sending of crops and people under guard to him.
General Yadin believes the letters were written during Bar Kochba's successful period. They had been preserved in bundles when the Jews went "underground" in their suicidal fight against the Romans.
The majority of the letters are written in cursive aramaic. Several are in excellent condition. Two of them are written in Greek and provide the first appearance of the hero's name in Greek as — They are headed "From Shi-meon Bar Kosiba (some-times Kosba; and sometimes with the addition of 'Nasi Al Israel')" Thanking General Yadin for his magnificent discoveries. President Ben-Zvi said that this period of the year is known as Sfirat Haomer and recalls Bar Kochba's revolt. He added that the last Jewish revolt had had no historians such as Josephus, and hoped that Yad-in's discoveries would add to the knowledge of the period.
Mr. Ben-Gurion. who was present, interjected that General Yadin was a modern Bar Kochba, but a successful one.
The letters were found during a massive operation by four prominent Israeli archaeologists. assitetd by score<: of Is^ raeli students, kibbutzniks and several army units in a combined air, see and land operar tion. The expeditions, which started in 1949 and conducted annually have this time been a definite success.
Together with the letters the expedition found remnants of leather shoes, including some for children, clothes, bones of entire families, sections of Tefilin, one entire pomegranate, many date stones and one piece of meat on the bone. The remants are well conserved, probably because of the arid climate. The wicker baskets and clothing fcund will be examined by the Jerusalem Fibre Research Station. The presence of cisterns in most of the caves shows that the revolt was well planned.
Summit Crisis
(Continued From Page 1) AHAB'S APPEAL TO BIG POWERS
London, (JCNS). Cairo radio, in a broadcast said thtat Abdel Khaiek Hassouna, Secretary General of the Arab League, appealed to the great Powers supporting Israel, to reconsider their policy. Hassouna asked for a "fair policy" towards the Arabs and the granting of the legitimate rights of Palestinian Arabs.
'This is the only way to guarantee peace and stability in the Middle-East", he said in a statement issued on the 12th anniversary of the founding of the State of Israel. Rallies were held in Cairo, Damascus, Alexandria and Gaza to mark th-anniversary, said Cairo Radio.
PRAYERS FOR SUMMIT
Jerusalem, (JCNS). Chief Rabbi Nissim said that Jewry all over the world will "lift hands in fervent prayers that tiiith, justice and pecce will guide the Heads of States for the Summit conference."
Rabbi Nissim expressed the hope that Israel's rebirth, the Simon, culmination of the aspirations of so many generations would be seen by the world leaders as a historic act desisned by Providence.

A Question To FuIIbright
In the wake of this unholy "alliance", one feels pity for the humiliating overtures of Senator W. J. FuIIbright of Arkansas, the self-styled "anti-Sputnik" in the race into UAR space. During his brief visit to Cairo, the Chairman of the Senatorial Foreign Relations Committee, had to "swallow" such epithets as "the American Senate is dominated by world Zionism" and "American aid to-the Arabs is a usurious loan — Cohen style", uttered by the neo-Fuhrer of the Nile himself.
Does Senator FuIIbright really believe that any civilised politician can ever match the cynicism and ruthlessness of Soviet "Niet's?

place each year on the 1st of lyar which generally falls at the end of April or the beginning of M?.y.. The. Syna-gogtie is situated in the midst of an all-Arab quarter and surrounded by Moslems. There is, today, ho Jewish community at Mehalla, where only aboutt five Jewish families still live, but the Synagogue is well looked after by the Schammas, Mr. Megherich and his wife.
The 30 Foreign correspondents and the "Ai-Ahram" special correspondent attended the whole ceremony. The prayers were conducted by Dr. Jacques Eskinazi, t he rabbi of the synagogue/' Jewish folk-dance were performed to music provided by an Egyptian band-The "Al-Ahram" corresjpondent said that the orchestra played Jewish tunes and popular Arabic songs.
ITie Sefer Torah, written by Rab Haym, was taken by a Mr. Sebtori who paid the "Mizr vah" and carried seven times around the Teba, with all the worshippers following. The "Al-Ahram" correspondent described it as a very colourful ceremony, "which our friends the Jews performed in their own tradition, with calm and dignity, and which very much impressed all the Foreign correspondents and their wives."
London, England (CJN) — The London Jewish Chronicle, organ of British Jewry, publishes the following editorial: "ISRAEL FUNDS
"A wind of change is blowing through the.Zionist movement; the main question at issue is whether the movement j will prove capable of fruitful adjustment to inevitable change or whether it will squander its energies in sterile efforts to thwart it. Recent news from the Zionist fronts suggests that the issue remains undecided.
"The organisational changes to be introduced in the collection and disposal of funds for Israel in the U.S.A. is a step in the right direction. The syphoning off of moneys collected for immigrant absorption and economic development into party, political finances has long been open to objection; the administration of the funds through a highly .political Jewish-Agency has had undesirable effects.
"It remains to be seen, however, how far the spirit of the new dispensation will be adhered to. At present the parties receive their share of funds mainly in the form of grants to their "Constructive funds" and "educational activity. ■ in the Diaspora." Unless the new or-ganisatLori to supervise'The diis-tribution of funds acts with independence and firmness, and setis up an efficient accounting organisation, there is little likelihood of much immediate change, given the balance of political power inside Israel.'.'
