A peculiarly Canadian phe-onmenon is the "scandal-sheet." A long succession of them — Hush, Flash, Thunderer, Weekender, Jack Canuck, John Blunt's Weekly, Tabloid; etc. — have "graced" Canadian newsstands from Vancouyeir to Halifax, some lasting only a few years, others still flourishing appearing weekly to purvey their ■ regular dosage of cheap sex arid violent sensation.
A French language variant of these, Ici Montreal by name, introduced 3: new component in
of Ansky's Dybbuk. This, along with an earlier English version published in 1927 and done by H. G. Alsberg and W. Katzin in London, come under the critical scrutiny of Jacob Levitch who finds that both versions are inadequate in their attempt to pour content from a Yiddish into an Engish vessel.
Many miatters involving a baisic understanding: of East European Jewish life are distorted by both translations, Levitch holds. A character in the play known as "Reb Men; del" appears in the English as "Rabbi" Mendel. It should be clear, he says, that "Reb" be used here does not necessarily mean "Rabbi'\ /
Another fault Levitch 'finds in the Engel and the Alsberg-Katzin versions is their inept-ne?3 at handling diminutives. Tochterr is translated automatically as "little daughter"; narrele given quite urrifiiagin-

HUMAN ItELATIONS
(Continued from page three)
. It is during the years from about 3 to 6 that children become concerned about sex and begin to ask their basic questions. They are mainly about babies and the difference between the sexes. The extra stimulation to your daughter's curiosity and 7 feelings created by having her big brother in\ the bathtub with • her might make the situation a bit too involved for a little girl to cope with.
The common bath happening once in a while is not such a terrible thing as your neighbor says. As a usual procedure, however, it is not recommended. It would seem that a boy of 7 with soni^^ight 'supervision, should be able to b^tti^ or^nower. by himself, and should not have to;^^be bathed by his mother.
What\ah also hurt children is the parent's" eagerriGSs to get them out of the house and out .
