The Board iof Education wishes to dnnounce that a sp>ecial meeting wilT be held on the evening of Thursday, 11 October' I^62, at 7:30 o'clock, in the Board Room of the Administration Building, for the purpose of receiving and discussing a series of spe-ciol reports prejxired by the officials on the operation of academic departments and the educational programme.
The Board extends to parents and ratepayers a cordial invitation to atterid.Copies of the reports will be made availoble at the meeting.

Peter Martin, president and managing director of Reader's Club of Canada, whp was on - the advisory committee and also chaired a workshop on education, was one of the few men who participated actively in the C.B.C.-sponsored conference held in Toronto's Hart House in September.
Mr. Martin will summarize the conference and act as moderator of a panel of National Council members who represented the organization at the Conference sessions and workshops. Members of the panel will include Mrs.
Julia Schulz, N.CJ.W. executive director who was also on the Conference planning committee, Mrs. Harold Lorie, Mrs. B. Morris, Mrs. L Crangle and Mrs. M. Sharzer. Each panelist will deal with aspects of the four different workshops: community life, education, family life and women at work.

Death Sentence^ In Russia
LONDON, (JCNS) — Two if Jews, 1. P. Shifsin and B. Y. ! Mirski, have been sientenced ' to death in Kiev after a trial ' lasting several days, .
According to "Sovifetskaya Cultura" of August 23, they, together with a number of Russians, were chaiged with embezzling half-a-million old roubles while entrusted with the running of the Ukrainian printmg industry.
Some six Russians tried at the same time were given prison sentences varying from two to twelve years.

S. AMERICA JEWS RALLY
— A South American Jewish Convention will take place in Sao Paulo (Brazil) from Octob€?r 22 to 25. It is sponsored by the World Zionist Organization, the World Jewish Congress and the local communities. Dr. Nahiun Goldmann will preside.
About 70 delegates from Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay, Chile, Peru, Paraguay and Bolivia will attend.
The sixth UJA Study Mission to Israel, which leaves Toronto on Sunday, November 4th, is the youngest group of Jewish Community leaders to make this important journey.
It will also be the first Mission from Toronto to visit Israel's Knesset while it is in session.
Headed by Wayne Tanen-baum,, the Study Mission is enthusiastically preparing itself with a series of advance indoctrination meetings. The first such meeting was addressed by-^sraelVAmbas-sador to Canada, Yaacov Herzog.
The second, held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Tanenbaum on Tuesday, October 2nd, was addressed by Edward E. Gelber, a former Toronto Jewish Community leader and now chairman of the Hebrew University executive Committee,
Mr. Gelber briefed the Study Mission on the political structure and cultural life of Israel with particular emphasis on the development of a sound education system and its importance to the building of a strong and well-integrated countr}-.
The 1963 Toronto UJA Study Mission will meet with leaders of the Joint Distributipn Committee in Paris before going to Israel where they will make an Intensive survey of developments, with special attention to the needs of refugees streaming into the country.
While in Israel, the Mission will meet vrtth Government leaders and have an informal talk with Prime Minister Ben Gurion.
