Unnoticed in the uproar that greeted Toronto's Neil Carmichael when he made his infelicitous reference to "the Rothschilds" and their "non-Jewish agents" was remark reported a week before by a Creditiste in the service of the Quebec wing of the party—Oza Tetrault the party's organizer in the Val D'Or district.
"It's well known," says Oza to the Toronto Star's Tom Ford, "that Jews control most of the business in Canada. . .in the world, don't have anything against their having wealth, but we shouldn't be deprived of our necessary money."
Mr. Tetrault is 44, owns a day cleaning plant and is a former mayor of Val d'Or. The above remarks' were placed by the Star writer under the caption "Some members hold discredited beliefs."
MATZOT FOR CUBA
Ten thousand boxes of matzot and matza meal, more than 400 botUes of wine and a quantity of horseradish were shipped to Cuba's Jewish conununity via the SS Bahla de Siguanea which left the port of Saint John, J». B. on March 12th. Arrangements were In the hands of Slgniund Unterberg of the Canadian Jew-Ish Congress' Montreal office who, looked after all the details of transshipment from New York (which was the transit port from Israel where the matza originated) and who negotiated the necessary import and export licenses.
The matza Is for the Jews of Cuba, now from two to three thousand in number, down from the pre-revolutionarj- 10-12,000. Most of these live in Havana, but there are small groups hi Santiago de Cuba and other provincial centries on the island for whom the matzot most be repacked and shipped by rail to reach them on time.
A docker's strike in New Yoric threatened to hold up transport but it subsided in time for the cargo to be imloaded and shipped on to Saint John. Because of the strained relations between Cuba

CONSERVATISM
A visit to a large Conservative congregation in Detroit (Shaarey Zedek) is a revealing experience to a stranger In reflecting the wide variation of practices within the United Synagogue fold.
Unlike the tendency prevalent in many advanced (Jonservatlve synagogues (as well as some Reform), the pronunciation of the Hebrew is of the Ashkenazlc variety rather than Sephardlc. It Is hard to realize that,, until virtually yesterday, the Ashkenazlc version was almost universal in North Aoierican synagogues.
The <dioir was aU-male in the traditional style and the cantor, throughout the recital of prayers, faced ten Anrn Kodesh (Sacred Ark) rather than the worshippers (a position whidi so often gives the tnpresslon of that of "performer and audience''). TTie only visible divn^nce from the traditional Orthodox style of worship was the mixed seating. wltSi men .and women seated beside each other. The prayer was the Conservative text, which differs from the traditional siddnr only in detail (though, of course, these are considered vital \/j many).

MEN
(for the United Jewish Appeal of Toronto)
These youthful Torontonians were on the 1963 Study-Mission to Europe and Israel. Their experiences made them determined to save lives.
Their visitff" to Paris, Marseilles and Israel profoundly affected their thinking about Jewish needs overseas; Now they know how the UJA dollar is spent, for they have seen its work with their own eyes. Now they appreciate the true meaning of the phrase, "Jews on the move," for they were witness to its tragedy.
And because they saw, and felt, and were touched, they are contributing twice as much to this yearns campaign as they did last year.
Now they are asking you to Join them in saving lives. Please give generously. ;
