KIND OF LIVELY
■ Reams and reams are written about the woundej male ~ how we wives can make life pleasant for our partners-for-Iire.
If anything goes wrong at the office, it's our fault. Hubby left the house miserable in the morning because, maybe, we asked for some money. So we spoiled his whole day.
And how can he kiss us goodbye when he has to look at a creamy face and hair-inHciirlers head at breakfast? Any wonder he eyes his trim secretary?
Then, the confusion at seven in the ayem! Baby bawls, the older children are, maybe,"shaving" with toothpaste, coffee is miming Oyer. So he says, if he has a heart attack, it will be your fault.
* .. * *
Well, girls, we just have to mobilize against that stubborn, pig-headed, conceited, ornery man — with whom we can't live without.
Could be, we do require more allowance sometimes. We patiently have to show him it's, after all. for his good. The little dress you've eyed for a month now is on sale, and he himself says he doesn't like to see you in the same thing all the time. So instead of going into apoplexy, he should be thankful for a Wife like you — you're actually saving hrni money, waiting for sales and such.
As for how you look in the morning — well! They say if you live with someone long enough, you get to look like him. All I can say is ukh und vay (woe)I He may be a glamor-boy at night, but early in the morn he's a grouchy, sleepy, bearded, hair-tousled, uncooperating ape — so look who's talking! And it's all yours.
Concerning confusion, he certainly doesn't ease .
the situation. Instead of helping you calm down the
menagerie, he adds to the turmoil by shouting, did
you see his socks, where are the handkerchiefs, what
happened to the purple shirt? If he'd only open his
eyes once, he'd see everything right under his nose —
including the shoes, he stumbles over.

But would you want to change anything? Not II As Papa used to say:
"You know what you have but you don't know what you'll get."
Anyway, I'm accustomed to the routine by now. Furthermore, there is a small, though important, in* gredient involved — love.
