Toronto's only Jewish high school for girls, Beth Jacob, welcomed last week its first principal. He is New York bom Rabbi Shlomo Freifeld. A graduate of the MeslftaChaim Berlin, ol Brooklyn, he has behind him a career of great achievement in the field of Torah education.
Rabbi Freifeld has lielped establish several Beth Jacob school! In Israel and was responsible for tha (nation of the Beth Jacob seminaries for teachers in Haifa and Beer Sheba, Israel. He also directed the Dean Gur "Arych Post Graduate Institute in-Brook-lyn and was active in the movement to establish Torah schools in all Africa and Western Europe.
He Is married. Freifeld's are the parents of flva cliildren.

Tel Aviv, (JCNS) — The Syrian authorities have called for tenders for the purchase of plots of land in Aleppo's Jewish cemeterv. —
According to information reaching here, the Aleppo Municipality has included the Jewish ceinetfeiy in " its development pliaii for the dty. Other sources said that the Al^po Jewish community is without any influence and therefore could not oppose ttia move.
Mieanwhile, tha Lebane^ authorities are said to be about to promulgate a special law for. l>idding Lebanese citizens to visit Israel. The law was promised after sharp attacks against, the Government had been voiced in Parliammt and the local press, complaining that Lebanese Jews used to vl^t Israel via Cyprus and Turkey without having their passportts stamped.
The new law will Include a special paragraph forbidding Foreigners living permanently in Lebanon to visit Israel. The same intediction will also ap-j ply to Lebanese Jews.
