BBYO kallah
TORONTO-
About 100 members of B'nai B'rith Youth Organization were expected to atr_ tend . the fourth annual Chassidic~Kallah—a religious retreat in -Oshawa wh+€h began yesterday _(Jhursday) and runs till Sun-day_,
During the retreat, members are asked to set aside their normal behavior and follow all Jewish rituals, laws and customs through intensive study.
The program, organized by Frank Buchweitz, assistant director of BBYO, has a teaching staff headed by Rabbi Irwin E. Witty, di-
rector of the Toronto Jewish Board of EducatioD. Other Toronto rabbis participating in the retreat are| Rabbis David Schochet, Yan-kel Glukowsky, Harold Sackr novitz and Shmuel Stauber, According tO- Buchweitz, the Chassidic kallah was or-
iginally greeted with a negative reaction by some professionals. It was felt that interest in religion was not great and members would be reluctant to participate during their spring vacation. However that has not proved to be the case, he said.
"The BBYO experience shows that youth want to have
an identity and identify with their religion," said Buchweitz. "It is also our responsibility to reach out to them."

An Orthodox rabbi and three psychiatrists clashed sharply during a panel discussion last week over the value of psychoanalysis.
Rabbi Shmuel Stauber of Bnai Torah Congregation said "much of psychiatry is cheap confession at expensive prices." and that many persons would do well to discuss their problems with a rabbi trained in counselling.
This is particularly true if one is an Orthodox Jew. said the rabbi, one of the
panelists speaking on The World of Psychiatry and Religion at Eitz Chaim School. "The therapist is likely to tear one's religious beliefs apart," he said.
The other three panelists. Dr. Joseph Berger and Dr. Rolf Lederer. who are in private practice, and Dr. Joseph Wohlgelertner, a resident at Clarke Institute, all Orthodox, didn't share the rabbi's views.
One should seek out the most competent psychiatrist; it is not important if he is religious, said Dr.
ronto BBYO, although repre senting all branches of Ju, daism, iiicludes many wh are non-committed or mar ginaily committed andwhos exposure to Jewish educatio and observance may be-neg ligible, he-said. —
Among BBYO activitie are:
--assisting in smugglin religious articles into th Soviet Union;
—building a sukkah and delivering Passover trays to various hospitals:
—making and sending f Chanukah cards to Vietnam soldiers;''
—holding Onegai Shabbat programs and services in Hebrew and English with Chassidic tunes.

Berger. Dr. Wohlgelertner emphasized that psychiatry and religion must remain sovereign, each in its own sphere.
Rabbi Stauber said society today is involved in a "mad pursuit " ol happiness and has accepted the idea psychoanalysis will bring this. •But unhappiness is also very natural and no one is teaching us how to be unhappy. No one can be happy, or anxiety-free all the time. "

A different definition^of Gomfort
Most expensive cars are designed to remove the. feci of the. road from the driver. Thc^Mcrcedcs-Bcnz 280SI-. 4.5 defines comfort in a drffcrcnt way.
It gives you the comfort that comes with control. Cong-ol that eases tensions that build durmg a long drive. The fully independent suspension holds the road without wallowing or wandering. But road-holdmg alone isn't enough to satisfy our concept of comfort.
The orthopcdically contoured seats are designed for extended stays. Scat springs are tuned to virtually
eliminate those tiny vibrations: that can (contribute to fatigue. And, of course, the steering column has its own shock absorber. ^
You can only really appreciate this satisfying concept of comfort during a long test drive. We invite you to take one. And when you do, we believe you'll want to make the year you will finally own a M«:rcedes-Bcnz.
