- Israel Bonds" have long been a family-affair withthe ■ LipmanF, beginning with the late Manny Lipman who was one of Toronto's first pre-
mier trustees, and then son Donald Lipman, who served as general chairman for the Toronto Israel Bond Campaign through. two record campaigns in 1972 and 19.73.

in this project and we are quite ready to have more 'and more students. This is an excellent opportunity for young Jews who are studying. We find many stay on while some go home and come back a few years later." he said.
Speaking earlier in the day. Peled compared Israel to an olive. "It is small, bitter but good," he told the attentive, graduating classes. of the Community Hebrew Academy.
Pleasantly surprised to be able to speak Hebrew to the approximately 50 students, . Peled urged, them-to take up the- challenge of alivah to Israel despite thehardships.
"In return, you'll be spiritually enriched," he said.
Since the Yom Kippur War, Peled said, Israelis also have become-more tolerant of newcomers because they realize they need them.
m the attitude of women to-: wards the Bond program since the Yom Kippur War.
"Following the outbreak of the war, women were not only in the forefront of community Bond activities, but they__alsoT made high level purchases in their ownjight, ~in record-breaking ■ numbers," sRe-commented.
"We are convinced this pattern will continue and are going to focus our attention on increasing^ the number of independent women purchasers at these new higher levels; It will be the woman's way to insure Israel's future," Mrs. Lipman declared
Bonds per capita purchases increase
TORONTO -
Toronto widened its lead, over every other major city in the U.S. and Canada ip . per capita sales of Israefl Bonds, according to the 1973 figures just rer^ased by Allan Bronfman^ president, Canada-Israel Securities, :i Ltd. In terms of cash dollars-raised, Toronto's cam-
paign total of $23,429,350 represents slightly more than 50% of the total raised in ?ill of Canada; $46,014,900.
Canada has accepted an unprecedented quota of $100 million for the 1974 State of Israel Bond campaign. Toronto Jewry's shdre of this is $45 million in cash by the enCot the year.
"Toronto Jewry has shown what can be achieved in mobilizing support for Israel on totally unprecedented levels by a community which understands the full meaning of Israel's survival and the economic .cost__j of safeguarding- it," Bronfman de--clared; ' 'Canada's $46 mil^ lion Bond figure for 1973
compares extremely favorably with, fund-raising efforts by Jewry in the United States and elsewhere; as re-,vealed by the official worlds wide statistics. This : is something, of which we may all be proud --that we were there when the people of Israel needed Jis, one people, united."
