TORAH STUDY
Every Jew, regardless of edycational background, should set aside daily a. time for Torah .study even if only for a: few minutes. During this period, one should immerse, oneself completely in. Torah, leaving aside all other matters. That Torah study protects is stated; in the Talmud (Sota, 21a), which tolls u?, "Torah shields and saves."
TEFILLIN
Every Jewish male 13 years or older should put on Tefillin (Phylacteries) each weekday. Our Rabbis explain (Berachot 6a) that the verse "And the nations of the,world shall see the name of G-d is called upon you and they will be in awe of you" refers to Tefillin-meaningthat the.observance of TefiHin instills awe and fear m those with harmful intentions.

Every Jew should-give charity (Tzedakah) and every Jewish home should have a charity, box. It should be put in a conspicuous place readily accessible for the performance of ;the. Mitzvah. Our Rabbis tell us (Midrash Tanchuma, Mishpatim 15) that since charity helps sustain the .lives~of the~pooFand needyvjo-d rewaids the chanty giver and his family, protecting them in times ofTTeed. ■. HOLY BOOKS
Every Jewish home'should contain sacred books, at least a Bible, Book of Psalms and a Prayer Book. Protectifln to the home_will thereby be increased. The presence of Holy Books in the home is a reminder^ that Torah and Mitzvot are "our life and the length of our days." . : •
