A Toronto couple. Eric and Esther Exton. have boon singled out by the Jewish National Fund to. be honored for their separate and joint community achievements at the Dec. 6th. Negev dinner, at the Sheraton Centre.
Among the honorecs in recent years were Ontario i'remier William G. Davis, former prime minister John G. Diefenbaker and communal leaders .lames F. Ka\ and Philip Granov-sky.
The Negev dinner, the largest and nK)st prestigious function of its kind on the calendar of the Toronto Jewish community, is held annually to pay tribute to an outstanding person whose efforts on belialf of Jewish causes ha\eBeen exemplary. For the first time since I%9, a husband and uife ha^c each qualified for this honor. Proceeds from this dinner will be apjilied touard tlic creation of a niajor land development project in Israel by the Jewish NationalFund to bear the names of F.i'ic and F-'sther I-xton in perpetuity.
In making the announcement of the selection for IM-K, Jack Gwart/. president of the Jewish National Fund of Toronto, said the Fxtons are symbolic of man\ families whose communal in\c)Ke-ment is setting an example
for others. "The family unit today needs the kind of inspiration and motivation the 'Extons have provided," he said. —
Eric Exton, president of Seel Enierprises Limited, Seel Mortgage Investment Corporation and associated companies, is a past ] president of the Jewish National Fund of Toronto and has been active for many years in Boys Town Jerusalem, B'nai B'rith, Baycrest Centre for Geriatric Care, Mount Sinai Hospital and the League for Human Rights.
Exton has also served numerous business associations such as the Ontario Society of Accredited .Mortgage Brokers, Ontario Mortgage Brokers .Association, and has written and lectured widely on professionalism in the brokerage business.
Esther Exton. a tireless community worker, has spent many years in responsible volunteer activities at all facets of B'nai B'rith Women, and in North York Red Cross. Baycrest Centre for Geriatric Care. Mount Sinai Hospital. Israel Bonds, and adult Jewish educa tion.
The Fxtons. married 30 years, are members ot ■Adath Israel Congrega-. tion. Their children. Leonard and Sybil (Beren-stein) are also active in communitv work.
