LAWRENCE, N,Y. —
A new publication called The Rosh Hashanah Home Reader, has been prepared by Congregation Kol Yisroel Chaverim and will be distributed free by its public service arm, the Jewish Community Jewish Information Council.
The 12-page leaflet will be ready for free distribution in time for the observance of the Jewish New year which starts this year on Monday, Oct. 2.
Rabbi Rubin R. Dobin. spiritual leader of the congregation, who edited and compiled the publication, said that it will be sent free to all who request it. All requests must be accompanied by a stamped, self-addressed envelope and sent to Rabbi Rubin R. Dobin. Congregation Kol Yisroel Chaverim, Home Reader. FOB U, Law-
rence, New York 11559.
The new publication is designed to add to the full meaning of the religious festival. Included will be a series of the more important prayers connected with the worship service that are especially suited for family reading in the home. Additional material to be found in the pamphlet has been assembled from current poetry and prose especially suited to the solemnity of the High Holyday period. A simple explanation of the meaning of the festivals is also included. Throughout the folder-leaflet, there will be found several sketches of art that are part of the holiday theme. Many of the selections are in simple English so that they can be easily read by the younger meinbers of the family.

{Toronto Jewish Humanist Congregation)
There is now a fourth alternative in Judaism to existing Orthodoxy, Conservative and Reform. It is called Humanistic Judaism.
Humanistic Judaism is an attempt to make Judaism relevant to a scientific age and to an urban culture. It does not find the heart of Judaism and of rehgion, in the belief in a supernatural god. Rather, it finds the essence of Judaism in a moral commitment to human dignity and to ethical behaviour. The Philosophy of Humanistic Judaism was first given organized religious expression in 1963. Today, there are Humanistic Jewish Congregations in: Birmingham, Michigan; Deerfield. Illinois; Westport. Connecticut: Boston, Massachusetts; Los .Angeles, California, as well as the Toronto congregation.
In 1969, the Society for Humanistic Judaism was established in Detroit. Its purpose: to provide an international voice for Humanistic Judaism; to sponsor the creation of philosophic and aesthetic materials for educational purposes; and to organize new congregations.
The Toronto Jewish Humanist Congregation, now entering its fifth year, will be holding High Holiday Ser\'ices. which will he conducted by Rabbi Robert Barr.
If you are unaffiliated because there is nci Jewish institution ip the Toronto area which conforms to your beliefs or life style - - or if you feel discontent with your present Jewish religious affiliation — Humanistic JudaisiTi may be the answer.
